is this a good cheap amp for playing metal?

I just need a small 10-15 watt setup. I really like the spider 3 15watt because of the metal and extreme buttons. I was planning on getting a fender squier strat as my first guitar, and theres a package that comes with an amp, but i want to know if this amp is any good, or if i should just get the guitar and amp seperatly

Im thinking of getting this package: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Squier-by-Fender-Stop-...

does anyone know if this amp will give me the effects i want?

Update:

it has an overdrive button, but i dont know what that does

ok for metal the amp is a factor but i mean you play metal in a different tuning like d or c so if you want to play metal then maybe get a ibanez instead of a fender as it has the seymour duncan pickups fender has that really tingy noise it is hard to describe lol, yer ibanez have a heavy sound also bc rich ask for a metal guitar otherwise if you wanna play slipknot on your fender and your strings aren't fat enough then you will stuff the neck of your guitar lol, and you will pay more in the end the spider are nice amps so yer try it out but it is all personal, if you haven't played before then i might have confused you lol, go to the guitar shop and explain what music you are going to play and they will tell you what guitar suits your sound, don't get excited when you hear them play cos they max out there amps so it sounds awesome and when you get home lets not go there lol, ok yer always ask to listen to the amp your buying not the 4000 dollar one they show with the 3000 guitar cos they don't sound anywhere near the same lol just making sure you don't get fooled by people at the music shop cos they try and scam you a beauty lol, ok yer umm if you run into any problems then umm email me and i will be glad to help you sorry if i am confusing you when i first started i got confused take care and enjoy rocking out

Well you are gonna need to spend some money if you want a decent amp. You can get a nice 2X12 amp for $200-300, preferrably something like Line 6, VOX, Marshall... But what you really need is a half stack, 100W or more. If you want a cheaper solution then I would just go with a stomp box, like the BOSS Metal Zone or Distortion pedal...that way you can get a good 'death metal' tone even if you have a cheapo amp.

The package is all set. And i would definetly look into the line 6 spyder III. I have one and it works incredible. If your going to get it from Guitar Center i would suggest you pay the extra $20 to get a 2 year garauntee.

    (i <3 the spyder III)

the effects on the one i have (30W) is clean, metal, crunch, and insane. My friends(75W) has all of mine plus twang and blues and a few others. But i also have the digitech rp50 for other effects.
