So How does bands like My Chemical Romance save lives?
i reckon its pretty awkward i mean you go grab a dagger and you're about to stab yourself then you grab your ipod and listen to mcr then you put the dagger away. LMAO!!!! or otherwise you take too many pills and you're about to die then you put on mcr then you're saved. woot!! that would be pretty amazing
the thing is if someone really wants to kill themselves, nothing can actually stop them from doing it and i am talking about their close people so how could bands stop them?
i mean they may help you through your life and all but not save lives because when you're committing suicide you dont listen to music when your doing it lol

I agree. Saying that a certain band saved your life sounds a bit suicidal.
It is one thing to like a band, but it is another thing to become over obssessed with them.

I am a cutter. Mcr, Bvb, Sws, hu hs all saved my life. You may believe that is not true and what i mean by that. Yes it is one of those things "you've had to be there" and if you have never went through it you would NEVER truly understand. I Suffer from depression and anxiety. I have to go to a shrink now though. There is never a point where someone just decides that they are going to kill themselves and nothing could stop them, and the decision to attempt committing suicide doesn't happen over night. It takes A LOT of **** to pile up in such a way that there seems like there is no getting out. Bands with understanding, relate-able lyrics and messages like MCR provide a sort of an escape to millions of people. And not only because of their lyrics, but because of their story's each one of them experienced an extremely difficult upbringing yet they made it through. They let people know that if you believe and fight, things do get better. Even in concerts and interviews they reach out and offer support that "depressed" or "suicidal" listeners need. They don't judge or question like your doing. They understand and care. That is how they save lives. Im sorry if you don't understand but yes bands do save lives.

First of all, you don't just say that. People are suicidal and their favorite bands say things like "we will meet you all one day" or "suicide isn't always the answer". Many of their fans are suicidal and you just can't call out every fangirl that has said that. It's stupid. Let them be happy. Let them be. There are some things people will never understand. And that's being saved by a band. MCR saves many people such as PTV, 5sos, 1D, ATL and so many more. And if you don't think so you can kindly frick off because your opinion is irrelevant to any other persons opinion. You're wrong and for the people that agree with you I hope you realize that they do save lives. So stop saying that they don't help because sure as hell they do. And it doesn't matter what type of music it is. Music is music and it will always be.

here's out it goes:
fans say the mcr saved their lives because they were going through something really hard in life and found that there was almost no way through it
then what they do is they listened to mcr and the lyrics spoke to them in a way that no other thing could. they lyrics may be something they were going through and it made them feel better that there were people out there who are still living going through what they went through. your looking at it to literally.
its goes:
so i am depressed and i feel i can't go on any longer and i can't take this. so before i die i want to listen to my ipod since i will never hear it again. i turn to my favorite song and actually listen to what they are saying, or i turn to an artist and i listen to their lyrics and it showed me that there are others out there who are going through this and i can make it.
thats pretty much what it means

I heard about a girl once who was a cutter, but then heard 'Stan' by Eminem and she could sympathise with what was happening in the words.
And as a result of hearing it, she got herself help.
I read it in a teen mag ages ago.
Would you consider it odd if I told you that Linkin Park helped me a lot throughout my teens (not quite saving my life as I never actually tried killing myself) and Mindless Self Indulgence encourage me to travel?!

I see that question again and again... I see people say MCR saves lives again and again.
I think what they mean is the lyrics are something that speaks to them. Unfortunately some fan girls take it literally and think that Saint Gerard is wearing a cape and rescuing little emos all over the world.
If it makes elevates them to listen to it, I get that . Tools is sort of that way for me. I do get sick of them saying that. Its so damn ANNOYING!!!!

I guess it's one of those 'you had to be there' things. If you've never experienced it, you can't fully understand it.
My Chemical Romance was the only thing that could get through to me. Their lyrics, their emotions, the fact that they'd all been through it themselves. Their words gave me the strength to pick myself up and the hope for something better.
You don't have to like it. You don't have to believe it. But if it takes a band to get someone back on the right track, there's nothing wrong with that.

I don't like to say it "saved my life", but listening to Killswitch Engage one day when I was really depressed and felt like I hated everybody opened up my eyes to how much better life could be if I just made it that way.

This is how I think it works, Emos are obsessed with cutting themselves [0.o], but when they listen to MCR they get obsessed with Gerard and forget about cutting. And what do you know, MCR saves lives.
That's why we get a lot of MCR obsessed fangirls on here.

They have a lot of suicidal fans. Or "suicidal" fans. Who are the kind of people... or should I say kids, who say they're suicidal to get attention. Like you said, if someone REALLY wants to kill themself a band wouldn't "save" them from doing so.
