Why don't more christians want yahweh removed from their jesus?
Jesus seemed like a pretty cool guy. Not exactly my cup of tea and all of his teachings weren't puppies and sunshine but I can see the positives.
Yahweh on the other hand seemed to be a bitter, wrathful monster who killed children and murdered millions for his own mistakes. From him I see very little morality.
While I am not a christian I have never understood why there aren't more christians who reject the concept of hateful yahweh tarnishing their loving jesus.
I would also have to assume that even more people would accept the message of jesus if first they didn't open their bible at the beginning, read the old testament and think Wtf is this?

Jesus and Yahweh are the same, which means that Jesus did all the things in the OT however ridiculous it might sound considering the time line. But that's what they believe in - that they are the same. And that's why I cannot accept Jesus. He is Yahweh, a vile creature I have no respect for.

Well God told the truth , at least he didn't sugar coat ,there were wars ' King David sent the woman he loved husband to the front line of war so he would be killed. So he could have Bathsheba. I know how bad it all sounds. But I just Believe and Jesus in me and I think He chose Me not the other way. I totally understand what you are saying. and don't know what else to say. I see both sides and don't judge. But My faith has brought me though some terrible horrors, That My opinion on something I have never been asked before,Good question,

A lot of Christians reject the Yahweh of the Bible, but effectually they don't realize they're even doing it. They say that they believe the whole Bible but then they dismiss portions from the OT and say "oh, that's not relevant". God is a loving God, full of mercy but even God has limits to what He will endure. So floats the boat over the course of the earth. So burns Sodom and Gomorrah. By the time the NT was written the people had all the evidence they needed of a loving God that is full of mercy and has limits. The Jewish people understood that very well. People now DON'T because they DON'T study the OT. I'm not going to attempt to persuade you of any reasons God did what He did. God created morality. It was there long before the Israelites were asked to be a royal priesthood. They just kept on screwing up His plan for them. And don't worry, I count myself among them. My genetics DEMANDS it.
I for one sometimes wish that God would permit me to slap some of these Christians upside the head - either it's all or nothing, folks! I don't like the rude, uninsightful answers that they give any more than you do. God will judge uprightly each one. I'll do what I can to help them understand, as gracefully and lovingly as possible... outside that, I'll stick to taking the plank out of my own eye. It saves other Christians time. Thanks for reading, guys, it's been a pleasure.

technically speaking, if you've read enough (other) stories, the actual smiting was done by angels of vengeance (the same types who tore the veil in half when Christ died)
They do this because well, God is so charismatic, and so attractive (quite frankly, to die for) that they will do anything to appease the slightest affront to His beauty and grace.
That's not to say that God cannot control these angels, they are all extensions of Him after all.
That is all I know from other things I've read.
The first clue I had was this book by a Methodist preacher who could see angels in his driveway fighting a darkness that sought to destroy him. When he thought good positive thoughts, the angels seemed to be winning, but when he thought negative depressing thoughts, they had to fall back.
Not sure if any of it is true or not, but sometimes I think those old testament guys ate too much red meat. (They also lived during very lawless times)

To accept Jesus you also have to accept Yahweh and the Holy Spirit. They are the three sides of God.
ADD: actually I seem to be stuck in the book of Isaiah (OT) so no... Jesus is foreshadowed in the Old Testament.

Yahweh, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are all one and the same God. Jesus was called Emannuel (which means God with us) He is also refered to as the Word made flesh. Just like you are also 3 in one. A physical body, a mind which is the soul, and a spirit which is those inner feelings, intuitions, and abilities to sense the spiritual world. We are made in the image of God. We were created for the purpose of pleasing God. Worshipping God and loving God. He loves mankind, but He also hates sin. Sin separates us from God. Much of what happens in the world is mans fault. satan hates man. He is jealous of mankind. And he uses deception and temptations to lure man into believing that God is the bad guy. If you think of some of the things God created for our pleasure you will realize He is good. By the way it was God who created sexual pleasure God created a beautiful world for us .

You are probably not lookking for a serious answer but to me this is serious.
God is Jesus and is also the holy Spirit This is called the Trinity (see link below)
God came to understand that his old ways were not working so he came to the earth in the form of his own son and offered himself as a loving living sacrifice that people might experience his love and forgiveness.
Good luck and God Bless. I am praying for you! God Loves you and wants you.

Good observation. Christians should consider this very seriously, and i won't be surprised if it happens one day.

You should have just stated what you believed, as you had no question. Just wanted a soapbox.
