Do you think you're ever judged because of the team you're a fan of?

I know that plenty of people think that ALL Red Sox fans are "bandwagoners" which definitely isn't true.

Do you ever think that people automatically sterotype you when they know what team your a fan of?

Update:

Correction: "your" is supposed to be "you're."

Update 2:

Roadkill- I agree with what you said about the Pats. I'm a Pats fan but (as I'm sure you know) I lived in New England for quite some time. I supported the Pats even when it was painful to do so *lol* and the same thing with the Red Sox. Being a fan is about supporting your team through the good and the bad.

Yeah. People think that White Sox fans are a bunch of trailer trash druggies. I hate how they stereotype the neighborhood U.S Cellular Field is in too. You can walk around the stadium, no one is going to shoot you or anything! It is ridiculous that people judge so quickly without getting to know who you really are. I also hate that after a team wins the World Series, everyone assumes all the fans are bandwagoners, when really only a small portion are.

I get it all the Time. At school teachers who are Yankee fans only allow me to wear my Red Sox jersey while they're in 1st place (other wise they'll criticize me). At my Job customers would say no Boston fans should work hear. In school everyone is a Yankee, Met, or Red Sox. Mets fans can't talk about the Red Sox and I defend my Team from those Red Sox haters. In the end i feel like they just playing around and i don't take i seroius. Some people are automatically stertype because of what Team you root for. I think those are the Fans who are ignorant and don't have knowledge about the Game. The Media makes this whole Yanks Red Sox rivaly seem alot bigger than it really is. In the end most Red Sox Yanks fans and players are all friends and share the same love for our Team and the Game of Baseball.

Many fans think that Yankee fans are arrogant but many teams have arrogant fans & there are even some Red Sox fans who are arrogannt as well but both have their true fans as well as bandwagon fans & I still say Red Sox have more bandwagon fans since they won the World Series in 2004. I can't stand bandwagon fans, I don't care what team it is.

Yes. i'm judged as a Cubs fan & i judge people too. i've never really associated bandwagon w/ the Red Sox. i knew they had a big following before they won a Series. people in that area (and outside) have always loved BoSox baseball. it's the football fans from that area / the team from that area that i KNOW are bandwagon fans. no one cared about Patriots football until 2001.

In 2006, a lot of people asked if I just started to like the White Sox. I said no, I've been a fan my whole life and I think they believed me. So no, I guess not.

As a Royals fan I don't think I've ever been judged - I've been called a liar, laughed at plenty of times, asked why I would root for a loser team, and have had an uncountable number of people tell me that they pity me or that my team shouldn't even be allowed to play professional baseball but I can't think of anytime that I've personally been stereotyped for being a Royals fan.

Yep. Especially since I'm one of the younger fans, they think I'm crazy for Jacoby just because he's cute (which he is, don't get me wrong, but you know I love Dustin Pedroia, and he's definately no Jacoby Ellsbury).

But some people think that if you're a diehard Red Sox fan (and you're a girl) they sometimes think that that is all you care about, or you're a lesbian or something because you don't wear pink. Since I'm one of those girls who tends to wear too much Red Sox gear, I try to wear it with earrings. I mean, hey, my senior prom is in a few years. Why not try to get someone early?

I have to admit I do stereotype with most New England fans. But it's true, in my opinion, for the most part. Obviously since you live there, you wouldn't apply to my stereotype. I stereotype most Boston/New England fans as band-wagoners though.

And I don't know if you could call this a stereotype, but I think all Yankees fans are stuck-up jerks. Yeah, probably a stereotype. Oh well.

    ^^^^^^Just my opinion^^^^^^

sure, I know I'm judged... I could really care less though. The only way I really judge people for their support of a team is how fiercely they support said team. Lots of great people are fans of teams I hate, and likewise, lots of class A jerks are fans of the Reds.

No because I show myself in school as such a true fan, that all my friends and everyone in the whole school knows that I am the biggest Yankee fan in the entire school. I dont know about the people on Y!A, but if they think that I am a bandwagoner, they are surely mistaken
