Why does everyone play the guitar?

It seems like everyone I know knows how to play at least a few chords on the guitar! I feel so left out...lol (I play the piano)

How hard is it to learn to play the guitar? I usually pick up on things pretty quick, but it just looks so complicated...

Also, is it possible to learn like on your own, or should I take lessons? I really want to learn, it would be awesome!

    not that hard.

    my dad taught me.

but the he started getting really anoying with it, so i quit.

i still have a guitar pick though, cox my crush gave it me... for my 13th birthday, coz he found it on the ground on my birthday... yeah, i know, it would have been so much better if he had BOUGHT it for me, but hey, i'll take it. it was sweet of him!

  • I play the guitar because it's an awesome instrument! You should definatley try and learn. It's sooooo worth it! At first your hands will get very sore and rough but that's just part of the process. I learned all on my own, but I think having lessons would make it a lot more easier! If you play the Piano...you can play virtually ANY instrument! That's what my Uncle said. He plays piano, guitar, and violin. Well Good Luck!!!!!

I've noticed that too. I'm trying to join the everyone.

Well, I have a guitar but I never learned to play it. I've always been a piano kind of person. I took lessons when I was little and I still play.

I don't know how hard it it, but I shall find out soon.

I'm going to start taking lessons soon to learn.

Of all the hundreds of people I know, only 10 or 15 people play the guitar with any sort of skill. And I do a contemporary music course.

well im taking guitar lessons right now and its not that hard.... im just having issues with finger positions during chords right now.... anyway it should be easy for u...... one of the hardest parts for me (cause i dont play anyother instruments) was learning how to read the notes and since u already play an instrument that shouldnt be a problem for u!! and u might be able to self-teach.... i know this kid who plays piano and self-taught himself to play guitar..... but then again he is like a genius (thats not insulting to u, he really is a genius)...... but i would recommend it.... its fun!!

I'm teaching myself how to play my guitar. It's kind of hard but I think it's possible to teach yourself. When I have time I will probably take some lessons though.

i play bass so i can only play the first 5 strings on a guitar my friend learned on his own tho and i guess with practice anything can be easy

  • You should take lessons, but you can learn on your own. It's just easier to know what your doing with lessons.

Hey, even you want to. I don't. I let other people play it so that I can sit back and listen. I play violin, sometimes piano, and I occasionally sing. That reminds me. I have a violin lesson now.

Someone save me from my violin-loving teacher.
