Muslim women : Can you explain why many of you wear scarves and try to cover up, but still use lipstick ?

This is the trend all over the world. It comes down to the fact that many muslim women want to have the best of both worlds - trendy, fashionable, yet muslim .

In western countries muslim women enjoy many rights, more freedoms, liberties, etc. In islamic countries, many muslim women are severely restricted and are subjected to rules and laws of men.

These freedoms also make it possible for some muslims to "savor" some non-muslim treats - wine, pork, etc - in the dark or secrecy. Although many establishements advertise hallal certification, they often prepare meals using the same utensils used for cooking pork.

Trying to enjoy the best of both worlds , creates a type of muslim that is haughty, arrogant and uncouth. This behaviour can be seen in many of the answers here. The irony is that it ususally certain muslim women who fit this description.

Post thought: (I must confess, though. I do not eat McDonald's or KFC very much. Fast food is not healthy.) When will the muslim world accept us and eat our hamburgers and chicken and not complain? When we lower the price to 21 sheckels? You're too religious of a people. You know why a woman wears lipstick. She is looking for a man. Why is that a sin? What if she is looking for a husband and wearing lipstick makes her feel pretty? Why are you people so judgemental and stuck in 2000 B.C. ? If she starts wearing high heel shoes under her robe then I will agree that she has gone too far. That's just not fashionable. Western world looks at the pig as very tastey. OUR prophet, Paul, said it was okay to eat pork. That's why we eat it. This is why we can't get along in the world? You think we are unclean and we think you are crazy! You think we have no morals. We are just like you, though. We want to live, fall in love, live healthy, please a God that is good to everyone.

The KFC my husband and I went to doesn't sell pork products Alhamdulillah. Everything in the Muslim world is 100% Hala. But I can understand your point if your living in a non Muslim country. Not many Muslims know if a place sells pork products because the resturants don't broadcast it at all. I don't wear fakeness. My husband prefers natural beauty. I never liked feminime clothing or makeup. It just makes you look trashy in my opinion. That is the problem with the USA. If you live in a town or rural area then you have no choice but to eat in a non Hala resturant when you want to go out to eat or order food to your home because many rural areas and small towns don't have Muslim resturants. Whereas if you are in a big city like New York or Las Vegas then there might be a few Muslim resturants that cater to Muslim families.

No. They are not being hypocritical. Scarves are Islamic dress. Where did you get the idea that lipstick is not? KFC and McDonalds serve food that is halal, like fish and vegetables. Who told you that a pot that has been used to cook pork makes the food cooked in it haram? This is not in Islam. It may be in Judaism, but Muslims are not Jews. Who told you Muslims may not eat food made by kafir? Muslims do not eat food prepared for idols, but do not need special religious cooks. No, Muslims are not being hypocritical. YOU are being HYPERCRITICAL, and spouting off about things you know nothing about.

If kafir is wet and touching food , food will become Najis.

but if the product is like Cold Drink, Chocklate etc that is okay

Lipstick is not bad i think if they are not showing to outsiders man.

Im not a women but i wanted to answer your question. Not all muslim-women put on lipstick i think its lip gloss or is it the same thing? im not sure but i am sure that im in a muslim country just now and all the restaurants are halaal because pork is not aloud in our country. =)

I've worked at McDonald's and believe me they are not pots its called a GRILL. You really think they have only one grill, In Australia there is only 1 Halal McDonald's that is in Lidcombe

and shops that claim to be Halal is putting their souls at risk.

A Muslim ( that is a proper Muslim ) looks for a sign or ask them if its Halal or not, If they say it is, and it turns out to be not they have indeed wronged their soul.

Although I'm not one of the ladies (at least, not the last time I checked), there is nothing in Islam that prohibits women using makeup. As long as they aren't doing it for the purpose of attracting! men.

But, I eat at mcdoggies and such. The ones I go to cook their fish in a seperate vat than all other foods. This would be, like, all of them. Have you ever had fishey french fries? Gross!

Pork cooked in the same pots? So what? It does not matter if the pork ever touched a utinsel, what matters is whether it goes in my body or not.

I will not eat at Denny's because they cannot cook me an omelette without making it swim in pork fat from cooking the bacon. I will eat at Shari's because they will cook my vegetarian omelette "true vegetarian."

I eat at KFC and Mcdonalds (well not so much anymore due to trying to eat healthier all around). but here in SAudiArabia our fast foods are all halaal..

I wear a very light lipstick or chapstick on my lips cause they are dry and chapped, not to make them redder.. I do when I go to a womens only party carry my lipstick with me and apply it upon entering the ladies quarters..

well my daughter is muslim and she don,t eat pork at all.and the reason she cover her head is a muslim feel your body, and head should only be seen by your husband,out of respect for him.and God.yes some wear lipstick if this is there preference whats wrong with that.they are still covered and being respectiful toward there faith.becareful not to judge others is it not, we all have a needle in our eye.for the first one without sin cast the first stone.
