The Wii, of course, is not portable. I have both the DS and Wii, along with many of the same games for both, and to be honest, the DS versions of the same exact games are not as good as Wii versions--really, not even close. The DS games, well the graphics aren't as detailed, the games are not as involved, and some are completely different-the DS games are almost like demo versions of the full-length Wii games.
You get what you pay for though, so the DS games also cost a lot less, $19.95 and $29.95 as opposed to $39.95 and $49.95 for the Wii versions of the same exact game titles.
Although the Wii games are "cooler", I find I play my DS games a whole lot more! The DS is a lot more convenient, and offers a whole lot more variety. I can play an RPG such as Zelda: Phantom Hourglass" for a while, and then just pop in another cart and use it to brush up on my Spanish! I can carry my DS and a dozen or more games in my purse, and I really kind of like having the option of playing games using the stylus--which if you've never tried it, works better than you'd think, and almost all the games offer the option of using the "traditional" style controls instead of the touchscreen.
Strange as it may sound, the DS actually has more games that appeal to older, more mature players, such as learning or brushing up on your spanish or french. "Professsor Layton and the Curious Village"--which contains over 120 classic "brainteasers" and puzzles. "Flash Focus" and "Brain Age"--which are adult educational games to sharpen your sensory, logic and other "thinking" type skills. Then there's "Touchmaster", which consist of 23 classic games, such as checkers, Trivia Quizes, various solitaire and other card games, you can also shoot hoops and even play Yatzee!
There's also games which are more like interactive detective novels, such as "Hotel Dusk, Room 215"--where you solve the mystery while trying to avoid the manager from finding out what you're up to and kicking you out..
Now, the DS also has all those those "harder-core" RPGs, "Final Fantasy", horror and shooter style games--similar to those you'll find on the PSP, which, yes, some of the PSP games may have better graphics and maybe the game play is better on SOME of the PSP games--for my personal tastes, the PSP just doesn't offer as much variety or anywhere near as many "options", for appealing to the interests of different types of players, different playing styles, or skills.
I'm personally not interested in "Grand Theft Auto" or "God of War", but if YOU are, then the PSP might be a better portable gaming option for you.
With the Wii of course, well, it has games such as "Manhunt 2" and "Resident Evil 4", and more of the "hard-core" style games are being produced for it--every day. Another consideration is that it's currently outselling the Playstation 3 by 4-1 in Japan, and 6-1 here in the U.S. So which system do you think game developers will devote more of their resources to create more games for?
BOTH the DS and the PSP fall short of being able to offer my personal favorite gaming experience, which is DDR! (Dance, Dance Revolution) It's my favorite dance/workout, and for this game alone, I consider my money buying the Wii to have been well-spent.
But our Wii gets the most use with our company--friends and family members, who come over and immediately flock on over to the Wii for games of "Wii Sports", "Warioware:Smooth Moves", and now "Super Smash Brothers Brawl"! All great party games if you "play well" with others.

Wii hands down. You can play classic nintendo games and you can get up and move with the controller. The only thing that's good with the DS and PSP is they are portable so if i were you 'd go with the Wii. You can also play with your hole family.

The Ninendo DS...I have it and it's not hardcore....PSP has too much hardcore games and Wii is almost the same as DS but it requires more money for games...But the Wii is better to get exercise!
