Words of comfort?

I usually say 'innallillaahi wa inaa illahayi rajoun' and try not to break down.

and tell them that InshaAllaah their loved one is in better place than us.

and if I knew the person I praise him and talk about their positive things.

May Allaah give that lady noor in her ghabr and save her from the tornment of the grave:(

kullu nafsin daa'iqatul mawt....wa'inama tuwafawna wujurakum yamwal qiyamah,,,faman suhsiha 'aninaari wa udkhalal jannata faqad faas...wamal 7ayaata dunyaa illaa mata3ul quroor.

Isa 58:8 Then your light will shine like the dawn, and your wounds will quickly heal. No words were giving me any good feeling or comfort when my Father passed away,But only a hug from those who love u & care for u can make u feel good but there is always a part of ones heart aching throughout whole life.

The soul is happy for its freedom when an old and sick person dies. Soul is taken back to Allah and the body made from the product of dust goes back into dust.

Now both body and soul are in comfort and the person was a decent human and faithful to Allah.

May Allah bless the soul and comfort the body in grave.

anything poitive and from the heart will be comforting!!tell the family that she will be by the grace of Allah in a good place and (if she was sick for a long time) is no more in pain and that Allah will surely bless for all the pain and (if) suffering she endured in this life

i'm quite unfamiliar with the death of close ones..only recently did my grandma pass away, and while i knew it was coming, it was still devastating.Just tell them that we all have to leave sometime and that Allah(swt) in His mercy might have saved her from further suffering..I'll pray for her, insha Allah and for all affected by her death.

I feel, just being with them who lost loved ones and giving your support is good enough! And of course, pray for the deceased too.

Dear God. I do not know you. I have never met you. I do not understand you. I am just a man you allow to live. Please be with the old lady who passed today. Amen.

I would say that firstly don't say " i know how you feel" as this is personal.

just allow the natural flow of the event take over you will know and if you presence is required. - people are not programmed to know what to say regards to death only happy events are we ever aware of the right things to say
