Exterior painting?
I need help! I have a 1400 sq ft house (bungalow style) that needs exterior painting. This includes power washing, lots of scraping of wood trim. The house is all white and I want to leave it white but paint the trim around the windows black, and paint my front door red. I have been getting quotes and they seem quite high. I live in Michigan by the way and the siding is the old 1950's asbestos siding. If I could afford to re-side I would but painting must be done this spring. Any ideas on cost?????

I wouldn't paint the asbestos at all. Scraping this stuff is very hazardous. You could probably install vinyl siding and aluminum trim for about 2,500.00. I also live in Michgan, and I do home maintenance. You could email me and I can get you a quote if you're around the metro Detroit area

This is from UK. Asbestos is a definite no no. Do not attempt to scrap or sand it. Swallowed you could take in a fiber that can bond to inners of body and grow. It is so deadly. We have specialist firms to remove it in Uk. It used to be in brake linings on cars but that is all finished now. I know this doesn't answer your cost problem but thought info should be forwarded

Call your local Sherwin-Williams. They can give you an estimate. They can estimate the material and going rate for labor in your area and may be able to recommend a reputable contractor in your area.
