Why do people feel the need to give out thumbs downs when asked an OPINION/PERSONAL experience question?
I get highly annoyed when people give me a thumbs down and someone asks for my opinion or my personal experience and I get a thumbs down! How can someone get a thumbs down for giving an opinion when it was asked for? If you don't agree, don't ask for my opinion. And as for personal experience, how can you give a thumbs down when it's MY personal experience? You can't tell me what my experiences have been.
Does anyone else get annoyed by those that constantly give out thumbs downs for no reason?
Dr. Bob, I haven't seen that exact trend but I can't certainly understand your point. Not sure why people feel the need to do that. It doesn't give you a better rating to gives someone a thumbs up/down so why be so negative? I honsetly can't see anyones reasoning for doing that.

I've noticed that. I always look at the responses after mine, and figure it was the ones who had a totally opposite view than mine. It's like they can't respect any view that differs from theirs. I just laugh now.

Only one person asked the question. That person may not have done any thumbs down. The people who did the thumbs down are free to exercise their own judgment. The Y!A format is frustrating because there is no good way to reply directly to an answer other than with thumbs up or down. I know I would prefer to be able to respond with something written, but since that isn't possible, I use the thumbs down/up instead.

Interesting you should ask about "thumbs-downers." In just wandering around the psych section, I find that I am seeing more and more questions in which ALL the answers have a thumbs down...like someone is simply going through and putting a thumbs-down on all answers!
Not nice. Anybody else noticed that within, say, the past week?
