Converting a 1956 Willys Jeep to Electric Power (plug-in EV), What's Involved?

I wish I could help more with this, but I am still in the research phase of my EV conversion. I do know that it is going to take quite a bit of work, and 6,000-8,000 dollars. This will get you a range of 20-50 miles depending on your choose of batteries and motor. First off, throw away that engine its worthless to us, in fact strip most of the crap out like fuel lines, gas tank, transmission, ect. Get yourself a nice motor like "Warp 9", you are going to need as much battery power as you can get, the more amps the better, but remember you have AT MAX 500lbs to work with. You will also need an inverter, go for the expensive ones with high efficiency, 75% wont get you down the driveway. Zilla 1k would be a good one to start looking at. Get yourself a charge controller and you are all set, you may want to look into adding solar panels and regenerative breaking to increase range. Go to your library and get a few books, a good one to start with is "Build your own electric vehicle" by Bob Brant

unless you have won the power ball lottery I'd give up that dream just rebuild it to its original condition and enjoy it my buddy has a Willy's jeep and has done a great jot of restoring it

I had one but the extension cord was about $5,000.
