VA benifit (widow's benefits) only income in 2007. Am I eligble for the new tax rebate?

I was told I will still have to file a 2007 income tax return. Is this true? My VA income was right under $8,000.00.

    According to the IRS:

You may qualify for a minimum payment of $300 if your tax return reflects $3,000 or more in qualifying income - which includes VA benefits.

BUT YOU MUST FILE TO RECEIVE THE REBATE, even if you are not required to do so.

The IRS has announced an electronic free file option for people who have no legal requirement to file a tax return but must file a return this year in order to receive a 2008 economic stimulus payment. Click on this link to file for your rebate electronically:

Yes, the VA benefits are qualifying income for the stimulus program, but you do have to file a tax return for 2007 to get it. See http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=179203,0...

The VA benefits will qualify you.

The VA is mailing a form for you, so when you get it fill it out and send it back in.

if you are asking about the money President Bush is sending out, everyone to my knowledge regardless of their incomes, or their taxes filed are going to receive something. i got a post stating approx what for singles/and joint filers. it might be in your best to contact a tax person and asked them for yourself. hope this helps.

post script: my tax lady told me that the checks will be mailed seprately, and it is NOT a deduction on you 2007 taxes.
