Is this a double standard?

Obama says(of his beloved grandmother) "She is a typical white person"

If McCain or Clinton said of Obama"he is a typical black person"...wouldnt they be crucified?....how do people justify this situation?

yes it is..and yes they would be martyred...and there can be no justification....from the white side...blacks don't require justification to do stuff like that...they just do it and have no fear of consequences

It is a huge double standard. Blacks can say a lot more and society turns a blind eye because they are a minority. Unfortunately, we as a society have gotten to the point where minorities are not only no longer given the short end of the deal (which is fine), but given special treatment (which is not fine). There are businesses and schools that have been documented to hire and give scholarships to members of minorities just because they are minorities, even though other people had better job experience or tested higher or whatever. In some areas, minorities are still given the short end of the deal, but in some areas they are given special treatment. I think neither is appropriate. Members of minorities are no less human than I am, but also no more human than I.

The more i think about it the more im Liking the Hypocricy of Obama and others like him! It has brought to the fore front the double standards and has exposed "racism" for what it really is! An excuse to do and say anything you want and get away with it!Maybe finally it will bring all of this to the surface so we can deal with it and get this "myth" of racism over with!

Of course. See, Obama masks it in a nice and pretty feel good speech but even he indirectly with what he says points out there is a double standard.

They would be crucified for it and any amount of excuses wouldn't get them out of it. So i think there is no justification for it, its derogatory and would not be deemed acceptable from any of the 'white' candidates.

OF course it is, and Obama knows how to use it well, cuz he's a you know what. They're getting away with it, but not for long.

You bet they would crucified. They justify it with "white liberal guilt." They have to go above and beyond to show how enlightened and tolerant they are.
