HELP: NOVEL IDEAS NEEDED. Help a sad amateur author.?
I am writing a book, but there are holes all through it. please take the time and help with a few scenarios.
1. Man 1 is in love with Woman 1, she is pregnant with their baby and they have both recently run away from her home. What terrible/dark secret would propel him to kill her? i.e. some higher authority he has to answer to? Remember they are both very in love and he is unlikely to kill her out of jealousy.
2. I need some uncommon but likeable names for
a) a young king - passionate and good in nature
b) a lord something or other (with a first name plse)
c) sometihng other than Belladonna for my main female enchantress.
My book is a little celtic/welsh and of the historical/fantasy genre.
3. Any gruesome scenarios involving plague/poison/torture/death??? Things typical of a medieval or early victorian period.
Thanks!

Before I answer #1, why does he have to kill her? Does the woman's death have any significance to the rest of the story? Is the baby born before she dies? You need to know these things before you can even expect a good answer.
As for names, any baby naming website can help you. If you don't or can't get access to the Internet, buy a baby name book. I know it sounds weird, but that's what I did. So any time I need a name for a character that I can't quite name, I turn to my book. I can't and don't think I could name your characters without knowing a lot about them. Names aren't always important to appearances, but their personality, culture, gender, etc. play a huge role.
Gruesome scenes? Read a history book on the plague. Watch a horror movie. Watch some violent anime. There are plenty of places for you to get ideas.
I know this may not seem very helpful, but this isn't my story. I don't know the characters, the storyline, or anything about it. Also, your questions can't truly be answered by anyone until you delve into the details and understand more about the story and the characters yourself. I suggest asking the characters- it's their story being told after all. What are their names, what are they wanting to say? It all flows together in time.
Good luck, and don't stop writing!

Go to Internet Archive and type in 'Hell Comes On The Wind'
Set in 1065-66 it is a true story with fictional and factual characters, interwoven for your delight.
I too am an author, though published, this is my last book free to those who like historical fiction, but to be going on with, here are some Saxon/Celtic names....
OLD ENGLISH NAMES
You know, we hear people from other lands with odd sounding names, and when one enquires as to their origin, we are often told that the name is an old family name, or a traditional name going back many centuries. But in England, what have we got? Bert, Betty, Tom, Harry, Dick, Heavenly-Harani-Tiger-Lilly, Angela, Peter, Paul, Mary, and John!
These are NOT real names now, are they?
But why should we not be like our continental cousins? We have lost the use of our traditional names of long ago. English names go way back to our distant past, and we are losing our identity to alien forms, and all our English names have been lost to the mists’ of time. Are you proud to be English? The French are proud to be French, and use traditional French names; indeed it was, not too long ago, that the naming of a French child was made compulsory, to be taken from an official list! OR ELSE! Oh Yes. So, I am submitting a list of Old English names; those that we should at least think about going back to, if for no other reason, that they will be known as ENGLISH NAMES, not the names of the old Britons, as only a few of these are known, and these were only those of few tribal chieftains, kings and queens, with the odd few others thrown in. The only name still in use in England is Cedric, and this is a royal name going way back to the really early days of the 6th and 7th centuries. To the right are names of those used by females, though this is not to say that the names on the left were not used by either gender, rather these names were recorded, and their used by that gender were known and recorded.

1) There could be some kind of gang that he has a debt with... the debt could be that he borrowed some money or they did a favor for him and the tim has come for him to repay them. They would threaten to kill his entire family if he didn't kill the woman. They have a problem with the woman because their leader loved her but she betrayed him by falling in love with Man 1.
2) a) King Torin (celtic name meaning chief or leader)
b) Lord Ahearn (celtic name meaning lord of the horses)
c)Gwenyth (welsh name meaning white, blessed, fortunate)
3) Umm... well, I've got one for torture regarding my first answer... the gang could torture him because he was undecided between his family and the woman
Another one is when the guy kills the woman because of the gang, he is overcome with grief and self-loathing that he poisons himself. (poison and death)
Plague... King Torin could come to the throne because his father had the plague.
Hope this helps... I'm writing a book, too, and I know how hard this stuff is!!!!

What if he discovered that his lover was pregnant with a being that would destroy the world - perhaps a dragon raped her and he wanted to spare her a painful labor?
I'm just brainstorming.
I am starting the fourth chapter of my novel. May I give you a bit of advice?

1. Well, the man 1 would be torn, because of woman , but that truly depends how much higher authority has power over him.
2. King Zandamus, Lord Mc'dowlry, Enchantress Vensilver
3. Someting where 2 fighters must be very quiet, due to sleeping high authority person, and one has the key to unlock the door to leave, but since they are enemies, one will die.
