Right click my computer and then properties (or go to control panel and then system)
advanced tab / performance / settings / advanced tab / virtual memory / change
Check custom size and input a size in MB generally you want it to be of a 1.1 ratio of what your total RAM size is.
Sorry if my instruction are confusing
So for example you had 1gig of RAM which is 1024MB you would want your virtual memory to be around 1124MB
Once you have done that make sure your initial size is the same as the maximum, then click
Set / OK / OK/ etc.. till all the windows disappear

Virtual memory is something that is handle by windows. Its a part of the hard drive that is used sort of like RAM. If it gets full or isn't big enough your system will stall or run slow. It can be caused by too many things running at once. Its also controlled by windows. It can be change manually but not recommended if your a novice. What could be happening is thatyou may have adware or spyware. You need to run a scan. Also check your harddrive space, you may be almost full. If thats the case free up some space on your drive by deleting or moving files to a cd. that should take care of it. Let me know if this helps. The Syko Ward

You will probably need both more RAM and more hard drive space.
Virtual memory is when you have too much RAM (memory) being used at the same time, so to prevent your computer from crashing, hard drive space is used as virtual memory. This is slower, but works.
If you are low on virtual memory, the first thing you should try is removing unwatned programs/files. Maybe you could save images and music which you do not use so often to a CD

Virtual memory is stored on your hard drive as you go about daily business. Doing a reformat is usually the best option however you must have a copy of your windows disc and save any and all documents you do not want to lose.
I would recommend updating windows drivers etc. as well, and it may be time to think about a new video card as this will fix the issue without reformatting and can usually be bought for as low as 50-60 USD but prices do go much higher. If you go to Best Buy or Frye's Electronics if there is one near you they will be able to assist you and help you find the video card best suited for your needs. (if you are a hardcore gamer you want to make sure you get one suited for gaming)

Assuming that you're not running low on disk space (if you are, free some up or get a larger drive), you probably have your page file size set for a fixed size, and it has to be larger than that.
