My remote car starter has stopped working?

My 2001 dodge caravan has a remote starter in it and it has always worked great, all of a sudden one day it just stopped working. The remote is fine we have 2 of them and they both light up the van lights come on like it is going to start and then they go out and nothing. Does anyone know what may be wrong with it? We have had it for 3 years without a problem. Thank You

Update:

The remotes are working they light up and the van lights come on so I know that both remotes batteries are fine. It has been in the van since we bought it 3 1/2 years ago and it has worked great up until about 2 weeks ago. I don't know who installed it.

Update 2:

We tried the hood switch and it still didn't work. Lights still come on but doesn't start. Thank you for all the help.

I have installed and serviced many remote start systems and by far the most common problem is the hood pin switch. Open the hood and look for the switch. It is a single wire switch that disables the remote start when the hood is open. Disconnect the wire from this switch and isolate it and try the remote start. (Most of the hood pin switches I have installed have a purple wire.)

    Remote Start Not Working

Check the safety switch under the hood. Somewhere around the edge of the hood there is a safety switch that depresses when the hood is closed and pops up when the hood is open. This is so the remote can't accidentally be activated when someone is working on the engine. If the hood was slammed a little to hard or the switch became sticky or corroded in the up position, the remote would sense the hood was open and not start the car. Open the hood and press the button down and try the remote. If I remember right, when I tried mine to see if the safety was working, the lights came on but the car didn't start.
