Should I give my dog to a family with kids or a couple with 3 dogs?

Hi everyone I've had my beautiful mini daschund for only six months ....but recently found out i'm pregnant with triplets so I don't have the time to care for my dog...so i've been searching for a good home for her and i've narrowed my seach down to..three a couple with tree dog's a family with three kid's and a nice lady who's husband is always away at work so she alone all the time...I can't decide?????

Update:

the couple with the three dogs has all small dogs...but my dog has not been around other dogs...so I don't know how she would act....

Thank you all for your answers ....and I think I may have made a decision.

Go with the lady whos husband is away at work. I believe by far she will give the most attention to your dog. A couple with three dogs will not likely give your dog a lot of one on one attention which I believe every puppy needs to grow up to be a properly socialized and well balanced adult. Even if they can and do, daschunds often have a difficult time getting along with other dogs, and even though it may not show now, it can develop later and I would hate to hear that they gave away your dog after you gave it to them. I dont think Daschunds are neccassarily good dogs for kids because of there chronic back problems. There are many stories out there of young kids accidently hurting these dogs by picking them up incorrectly or just by playing too rough. I think the lady whos husband away would be the perfect choice for a young daschund. As long as she as some knowlege about daschunds and has previous history owning a dog, I believe she would be the best choice.

Daschunds can be angered easily and agressive, just like most small dogs. He may not show it toward you, but because they are so small, it can be scary to be handled by kids who don't really understand dogs as well as adults. Anger is caused by fear, and thus if one of the family's kids did something wrong by mistake, they could be bitten.

However, daschunds don't always get along with other dogs. I've seen a lot who do, as long as the other dogs are bigger and not to rough, I would choose the couple. Either way, you should bring the dog to the couple or family's home before giving him away, to make sure the adults, kids, and dogs all get along. =) Hope that helps!

EDIT: Also, I really appreciate your decision on giving your new dog up. I understand that raising triplets can be trying, and taking care of a dog isn't the thing you need to be doing. You made the right choice. =)

Double edit: Also, I totally agree with the users who said that the dog would be like a live teddy bear. Not only can he be injured by small kids, but, and I stress this if he is young, the dog can learn behavment problems. If a dog learns that being agressive can keep the kids away from him, he will continue act in that manner, and this can be damaging and irriversable.

Golden retrievers are wonderful dogs for anybody but especially a family with kids. They love to play but are also fine entertaining themselves. These dogs are great and gentle with small children and very active to play with the oder kids. unlike some dogs do settle down easily as long as they are trained properly (and sometimes even when they're not). They are very loyal and pretty intelligent as well. A nice sized yard is perfect because they don't mind being a solely outdoor dog (though of course they do enjoy being a part of the family in the house) They are not prone to health problems like some other breeds but if you do get a golden make sure that its parents had their hips checked because that is the one hereditary problem that goldens sometimes face. They have a nice long life span and are not difficult to take care of. They are also normally very reasonably priced, though of course, any animal is a time and monetary commitment. Good luck with whatever you choose!

Give the daushound to the lady who's husband is away all the time. Daushounds make wonderful companions for people alone. Sometimes they are not good with kids. And to mix your dog with a family that has other dogs may not be a good thing because the dogs may not accept him. Good luck with your pregnancy....

Source(s): I have 2 daushounds....one of them was my mother's. She lived alone and this dog was her only company.

em well think off the dog what would be the right inviroment for him. if he has been around childen all him life and u know he's good with childeren then there should be no problem with the children family. if he gets on well with other dogs then the dog fasmilybwould be good , but i would take youre little doggy 2 see the dogs of the family cause some dogs just don't like each other so if u know they won't get on u can try another family. and the other lady should be good in any surcomstance, let her meet the dog, does she get on well with the dog just let the dog meet all the familys nad u decide what u think is best!!

good luck finding a new home for youre doggy and on the birth of your triplats!!!

u should give yr dog 2 a family with kids because the kids will be happy 2 hav a dog 2 take care 4.the kids can oso at the same time train and play wif the dog.the couple wif the 3 dogs has 2 much 2 take care 4.if one more dog(pregnant and adds up 2 four dogs) juz come in,it may take up their house expense because three dogs need a lot of money to buy food, bathing the dogs, taking it to the vet when they are sick.imagine if one more dog(pregnant and adds up to 2 four dogs) come in,it will need more money if only one person in the family is working.and if u give it 2 them and yr dog gives birth, the couple will hav the take care 7 dogs.

Whoa. Um you should ask them for references. LOL. It's not unreasonable - adoption agencies do background checks. The family sounds like the best choice though, especially if your dog is a puppy. They'll be active enough for him. The couple with three dogs won't be heartbroken if you don't give them your dog. Why do they want more dogs anyway? Geez. And you won't be solving anyone's marriage problems by introducing a puppy into a family with an unhealthy relationship. :)

Give to the nice lady who is always alone. but make sure can furnish a good loving home for your baby.

I wish you could keep the dog, the little thing wont understand why you are not there anymore....but sometimes it is necessary to do things like this......I wish you could find the time to care for your little dog.......maybe when the triplets come, the dog could help out by babysitting........

really seriously, you are gonna have your hands full with triplets and no one will think any less of you for trying to do what is best for your little dog, better to find a good home, rather than not being able to do what you need to do for the dog.

    and CONGRATULATION'S ON THE BABIES....

the little dog will be fine......and I am sure the lady will take good care of the dog, and it will be company for her.....and the dog will gets lots of attention I bet, and the lady wont be lonely again....

I commend you for trying to think of your dogs well being...

Give the dog to the family with kids. The kids will probably be really happy and it will keep the lady from feeling lonely at home. Plus it could be helpful in teaching the kids some responsibility as they learn to care for a pet.

hi, i have a 6 year old mini dachshund.Mini dachshunds love to be pampered, and not tortured.3kids will torture your dog, unless they are at least 8-9 or 10 yr old. Please think about it, a small dog living as a live teddy-bear to entertain 3 active kids?the couple with 3 dogs must be evaluated:do they have 3 small dogs?or 3 medium to large dogs that will trample a mini dachshund puppy?

My best advice:the lady who is at home alone needs a dog, because her husband works all day.

Please think about it:my dog is 12lbs, and he runs from kids.
