Would you rather have the Constitution or the "Patriot" act?
It has been proven that they both can not coincide together because the "Patriot" act states that a person can not fight back against the allegations brought up against them in a court of law. And the Constitution guarantees that people be given a fair trial. So which would you rather have?
There HAVE been people who have came forward who the "Patriot" act has targeted..who have been US citizens. So, it isn't the terrorists that it is targeting. Please read the "Patriot" act if you do not believe me.
Joyce, that argument is old and misleading. The Constitution guarantees our Right to Privacy and an open trial. The "Patriot" goes directly against this. "Those who would give up a little freedom for safety deserve neither." (I don't remember who this quote is from, I think Jefferson or Franklin)

That quote is from Jefferson.
I like the way Ron Paul put it too...
"Since 9/11 I've come to the realization that there is no reason we should sacrifice one drop of liberty in the name of secruity."
The Patriot Act and HR1955, Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act together have taken away pretty much all of our individual rights as citizens of this once great country.
With these 2 Orwellian laws in place, if you violate any law (felony or misdemeanor) and it "appears" that you are trying to influence someone's opinion or it "appears" that you are speaking out against our government... you are considered a "domestic terrorist".
In this case, they can take you to a secret prison outside U.S. borders, try you by military tribunal, find you guilty without a jury of your peers... then they can execute you.
People need to really wake up to what is going on and realize that the elites of the world have always practiced tyranny. Our country is no different. We are not immune to abuses of power.
Bring back the U.S. Constitution! As it was written originally!
Stop this madness!
And you people above that think that this could never happen here... remember... before Hitler, the Germans thought they were free too.

I tried to file a lawsuit against a white collar criminal
affiliated with Supplemental Warfunding back in '06.
From what i can tell, at that time, only a terrorist can
have a verichip implanted w/o consent or knowledge.
I guess my seeking to collect on performed work made
me a terrorist-AND IT DIDN'T HAPPEN UNDER THE
CONSTITUTION!

The Constitution and Bill of Rights. You silly people if everything is kept secret under the Patriot Act. How would you know how many American citizens law enforcement has violated or are holding in secret prisons.

FEDUP nice try,, but your point damn sure won't fly, The difference here-in is thus, The only people the Patriot act
deal with are
1. Known Terrorist
2. Suspected Terrorist
3. known contributors of either aid or funds to the aforementioned,
4. People who conspire to commit terrorist acts, either
foreign or domestic.
5. Businesses who profit from dealing with known and or
suspected terrorist .
6. Those detained at GITMO, are not US citizens, and therefore are not afforded rights under the US constitution.
7. Those at GITMO are not Recognized Members of a standing Armed Force Recognized by the Geneva Convention.
8. If your doing something in the above categories, your ***
needs to be picked up, and detained and interrogated. and
if found guilty (should you be an American Citizen) put in a
Federal Prison for the rest of your Natural life, In the cases
where loss of life was involved, you should be put to death
by firing Squad.

They can co-exhist....there is no where in the Constitution that garuntees your right to confir internationally with known terrorist orgs...the Patriot Act allows monitoring of these calls...not domestic....
Also as enlightened as Mr. Franklin was...i doubt he forsaw the threats and communication abilities available today back then...Personal My belief is that those unwilling to take some precaution...deserve...NO protection...tis libs that were and still are screaming that we should have done more to protect the nation against attacks like 9/11...LIKE WHAT...aske then nicer like PRETTY PLEASE WITH SUGAR ON TOP TELL US WHEN YOU ARE GOINT TO ATTACK?....THAT DOES NOT WORK... as far as anyone whom that the Patriot act has been been used on in an illegal manner..there are Civil and Crimminal redresses for that..that is our COURT SYSTEM...

It is not a matter of what you would rather have, rather what should be enforced. The US Constitution is America, and without it, we wouldn't be what we are today.

The Constitution is the base plan for this nation. It would be nice to see it hold water again.

Constitution.
"Bush claims they attack us b/c of our freedoms; so, if our freedoms are taken away, the terrorists win. Right?"
