Is it possible to get copper poisoning from an IUD?

My sister claims her health problems are from leaving an IUD in for 12 years!!!!!. Stupid girl, I know. But is it possible or is there something else wrong with her?

    It is possible to get copper poisoning from an IUD but very, very unlikely. If her problems are due to the IUD, it's more likely related to infection rather than poisoning.
