Will my headache ever go away?
I have had a headache for a month now. My doc is telling me it is because I am stressed and they are "tension headaches". I am freaking myself out that it is a brain tumour or something awful like that but I do have a TON of tension in my back and neck and am pretty stressed at work. Could pounding daily headaches honestly be caused by this?
He is sending me for a CT scan for my own sake, saying there is not a big chance it will show anything....
My problem is that no pain killers are cutting it and that is what is scaring me. My neck and jaw and head are sooo so sore, I dont know what to do
Any suggestions or has anyone else experienced this?
Do you think I could have a brain tumour?
I have read so many things about headaches not going away for years...I would rather die than experience this for years.....Will it go away?

I had headaches for a very long time and almost nothing would make them go away. I had a ct on my brain and everything was fine. I did find out (after a ct of my sinuses) that I had a deviated septum and sinus infecton, this was causing my sinuses to flare pushing on the deviated septum, resulting in HEADACHES. I have had surgery and took antibiotics and today I live headache free. I too worried that I had a tumor, or was having something pop in my brain. But just never stop searching for an answer!!! I went to neurologists, regular md's, allergists, and even the ER! Until finally someone gave me a solution. I hope you find your cure.

I think your doc is doing the right thing in getting some tests done. I also think you are worrying so much over it that it could actually exasperate a headache. If you can possibly try to not be scared and just let go until you hear the results of the test you will help yourself immensely. I realize it's easier said than done. I hope you stressed to your doctor how scared you really are and that you don't want to feel blown off but do want some consideration of your complaint. I hear you loud and strong about the fear. I had headaches for a year and took too much ibuprofen for them which caused a major health issue that had nothing to do with the headache So, watch what you take and get focused on something peaceful rather than fearful. Wish I could help with better answers for you. .

9 times out of 10 you are stressing yourself out and making it so much worse. Chill out. I have alot of headaches so I know how you feel. I just know this is something I have to deal with. Alot of times you just know you are gonna have one and you hurry up and take something then over time, the meds do not work as they once did. That makes you think you are so much worse because the meds don't work. Your system gets used to them. Just like a drunk and a bottle of wine, it doesn't get them drunk any more because they are use to it. What I do sometimes is drink coffee, not the type of mocha or any of that mess, just regular maxwell house with cream and sugar, lie down, cover my eyes and picture in my mind a place where I once was that was happy or a place I would like to be. That helps if the pain is not real bad. I also get my daughter or roomate to massage the back of my neck in circular motions with the thumb. It may be tense, but believe me it works. The whole back of your neck or right where the neck and back connect are like pressure points. Try it and of course free your mind while the massage is performed. You can also do it yourself but it just feels better when someone else does it.

Hi! Have had headaches for five years, similar to yours... I had tons of tests done and they didn't find anything. (you probably don't have a brain tumor, I thought that too.) For a while i couldn't do anything, go to school, work, whatever. Try excedrin migraine, it might help a little, but buy the name brand not genaric. Also my doctor put me on an anticonvulsent it worked great for a while, but eventually made me depressed. Actupunture worked the best. Try to stay happy, don't give up!

your problem seems to be intriguing. since the doctor advises a ct scan, more to convince u that it is not due to tumour..get it done and remove this fear once for all.
now u should drink lots of flids through the day as dehydration can cause headaches. get u`r eyes checked as well as teeth. sometimes gum problems can cause headaches.
take help of meditations to releave your self of mental tension. do some light shoulder and neck exercises to release the muscular tensions. get a torough medical check up done.
do not use computers for long and donot read up tons of materials available on various search sites as they will only create confusion

You are making it worst by worrying so much. I know it hard not to but calm down and wait for the results of the CT. You my have just developed migraines. My daughter has them. She has been put through all kinds of test and everything is fine, she has migraines.
