As a general rule, is it OK to ask for advice here if you have a disagreement with another user as long as ..?

as long as no names are used?

Plus as long as you use nothing that can ID the person. You know, keep it confidential to avoid a bigger fight. Just enough info to see if you were wrong and if so, where.

Seems to me to be ok. Just curious what the rest of you thought.

As a general rule, yes it's okay. And your limits as defined should be respected at all times. Doesn't mean someone won't take it as 'chatting' since really even asking a q could be interpreted as such according to Yahoo's own guidelines.

However...one should always remember not to overdo, for then one stoops to the same level as the person 'you' need advice on.

Gently said of course and hopefully taken as same.

I also keep the "names private" but I know, for a fact, that you want to mention my name and now, the jury has reached a "verdict" ! Go ahead folks, throw the biggest rock that there is !

I disagree with one of my contacts all the time and we are friends. He says he is sorry he does not agree or understand a lot of what I am saying. I told him it was all good. If we all thought the same was wouldn't it be BORING???? Diversity is the spice of life and I personally like to hear the opinions of others even if they differ from my own. Report them or insult them? NEVER. Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion.

Look, Moe, if you have a beef with me, come right out and say it. I can handle it. Besides, a knock down drag out fight with kicking, scratching and biting sounds like fun.

    Sound fair enough.

The only problem would be is if the other user was so paranoid they would think you were talking about 'them'.

If it helps to resolve any issues, I would say go for it.
