Here are some of my favorite places:

Jack Stack (Also known as Smoke Stack) (Casual or fancy dinner, restaurant style, fantastic food!)

Oklahoma Joes- WARNING: NOT OPEN ON SUNDAYS (for a casual dinner, cafeteria style)

Big Bubba's BBQ (For quick, easy, and yummy, restaurant style)

In all of these places there is amazing Cole Slaw. It's hard to get bad BBQ in KC. By the way, KC MASTERPIECE has good sauce, but the food is just mediocre.

Definitely Oklahoma Joes at 47Th and Mission Road. Also Ricky's pit around 82nd and State is a good place (President Clinton ate there).

An all time favorite would be Arthur Bryan ts in Village west center near the NASCAR track.

Quick's 7Th Street BBQ 7Th and Cheyenne is another good choice along with Wyandotte 1 BBQ out on State.

oklahoma joes, gates, wyandotte bbq, boardroom bbq, johnny's bbq...

actually there are a million little bbq joints in kc. try em all.

of the ones other people listed i think jackstack is a little bit yuppy for my taste, but they use good meat. Arthur bryants is an experience, their sauce is more of a wet rub and it has a real thick tomato taste to it, they give you lots of meat and it is pretty good stuff. I'm a wet sauce person though, thats why it didnt make my list.

Now, I have never been here, but I am a huge fan of Food Network and the Travel Channel....both highly raved about a place called Arthur Bryant's.

It looked delicious and the patrons were lined up for miles, so that is a good sign. I say you give it a try, and then let me know how it is. :)

  • I don't know about Kansas, but if you come to N.E. Oklahoma, I'll point you in the direction of "Mack's BB-Q".

One bite and you'll be offering me your first born child as a token of your appreciation!!
