Only your local vets can answer that. Prices are different from one area to another.
EDIT: hmmm I know my vet up in NY was ALOT cheaper on things than my vet down here in FL is. But I guess someone thinks all vets charge the same regardless of where they're at.

I'm surprised that your vet didn't give you a price for the surgery when he told you about the puppy needing it. I would suggest that you call your vet and find out so that way you can save up for it and see how long the pup can go before the surgery is absolutely necessary.
