Has anybody here visited Vancouver?

Would I be right in thinking it is a lovely city in an almost perfect setting?

I went in 1981 and 1986. Alan Whicker said it was one of his favourite cities, San Francisco, but with mountains.

As you circle in the plane, about to land, the first sight of the city is fantastic. It made me want to cry!

Depending on the time of year, you can ski and swim in the ocean the same day. The public services you won't believe. So clean and tidy, with no litter. Although the climate is similar to the UK, there is much more emphasis on outdoor activities.

Sadly, I don't think I shall go again. My elderly cousin over there is badly afflicted with Alzheimer's. If you haven't been, you don't know what you have missed. I thoroughly recommend a visit.

I agree, amazing setting. Fondly remember watching the sunset from the park above the city surrounded by Raccoons (bit of a novelty for a brit).

yes, but it's very polluted. The air get stuck because of those high mountains in the back and from Vancouver island you can see this purple cloud of pollution floating over the city ... but yes, Vancouver is a VERY nice city.

    I loved my visit there.

But. Parts of Granville Street were well dodgy at night. Drugs and prostitution. Other than that it was a great break.

The best sunsets were from Horseshoe Bay.

Also worth it is the view from Grouse Mountain
