People who have stayed in hotels in New York City???

Are there any hotels that you would recommend staying at? I am looking to stay in New York for a week in October and I want to stay in a not too expensive hotel actually in Manhattan. I searched on the web but there are too many to choose from, I thought I'd start with some recommendations... Please help!!!

Try the Savoy Hotel 212-245-5755. I stayed there in October & will again in April for $135 a night. No frills hotel but is 1-2 blocks from Central Park and great price. Check out www.parksavoyhotel.com. Try the website or calling always tends to work as well, ask them if they will match $135 that a return guest referred you about. Never know! I found it clean, safe, great location & the price was the best!

There are some good web sites that can get you a good hotel for a bargain.

We recently stayed at the Sheraton Manhattan for a week, and it cost us less than £400

The web site I'd recommend is Hotwire. Prices are in dollars, and it lets you select the General area where you would like to stay and gives you the details of the hotel (Star Rating, Facilities, etc.)

It doesn't give you the name of the hotel until you have booked, to prevent you doing a direct comparison and them losing out on comission.

We always use it when travelling to the States and have always been surprised by the savings and the fantastic hotels you end up in.

Our last trip we did a direct comparison of the price we paid and the price we would have paid by going direct through the hotel. We saved nearly £700!

I highly recommend Hotel QT. It's not too expensive. It's a block away from Times Square, next to an Irish Pub, free continental breakfast, free internet connection, a trendy bar, and a very cool swimming pool and steam room.

I also heard that Pod Hotel is a cheap but fun hotel, haven't been there though.

Sheraton New York Hotel and Tower

    Westin Times Square

Try the sheraton suites hotel at Weehawken - not strictly on Manhatten but right atthe ferry dock with ferry sall day and most of the night. Much cheaper than staying in the city and not inconvenient.

Hotel 17 just google it to find the prices ,You don't get meals or complementary choclates or stuff like that just a clean room to stop in .Good location just around the corner from a diner,a pub, and a subway station.so you are literaly miunits away from the action.

Don't stay in any NYC hostels is my advice I did and I hated it I would stay in a double tree hotel if they have one because I know from my experience in Florida they're good hotels.

If I go back to NYC I will look for doubletree hotels!!!!

Beacon Hotel on 75th Street is quite nice. Depends on where you want to be based though.
