i've just written to my credit card companies asking them to...?
...freeze my interest and accept a lower monthly payment until my situation improves. Wondering if anyone else has done this and what the outcome was? I got this advice from the citizens advice bureau.

I did this recently, I missed some payments cos of financial difficulty, explained it to them, asked them to freeze interest and said I could pay a set amount a month. They sent a letter back saying they accept it (they don't actually have much choice in the matter, they could try and argue against it but they know it's likely to cost them more) and since then I've just been paying half what I was before and there's no interest. You just have to make sure you do pay it.

positioned your self in there shoes - could you settle for £a million,568 on a debt of £4,000? There ought to be an exceptionally sturdy clarification why. for occasion, do you have any components or are you properly worth something in case you have been made bankrupt? Is the £a million,568 extra advantageous than they gets in bankrtuptcy or over some years say. they are probably to say no, as they're going to make extra money charging you activity for here couple of years on the remarkable debt. i could propose making much less high priced money each month till your credit status improves. you ought to possibly get yet another card with a extra useful deal and save on paying off the debt without paying too plenty activity.

Some will freeze your interest rate, but only on the condition of closing the account. And if you don't keep up the minimum payments, they will send it to collections.

Yes they will because by being honest with them they know that you will eventually become a valued customer again once you've got over your present crisis.
Write to them and tell them what you can afford to pay each month and they will accept that pro tem .
Good luck and I hope that you soon resolve your problems

You signed the agreement and it is highly unlikely that they will accept your request.
You are liable for the minimum payment and the interest as stated in the agreement and they will chase you for it.
Good luck I admire you optimism.
