deleting questions and 10 points?

This really stumped me yesterday but today was even weirder.... I get 10 points for best answer and when receiving it , says ( cause I viewed question) I got it like 4 hrs ago BUT it was to an answer I had done over a month ago. Is that common? Also today after getting up from a nap... it says -2 points for a question I had deleted 2 hrs ago and I hadnt even been on the puter.I had answered this question yesterday... Can anyone give me a headsup on whats going on?

Update:

nobody but myself is on my puter and I never deleted the question is what I am trying to say...understands about the first one tho

Update 2:

hmmm i got -2 it says for deleting a question that I dont remember deleting I just answered this question yesterday. It was a question I found challenging and wouldnt have deleted and at the time it says I deleted it.( today) I was napping

Update 3:

hmmm i got -2 it says for deleting a question that I dont remember deleting I just answered this question yesterday. It was a question I found challenging and wouldnt have deleted and at the time it says I deleted it.( today) I was napping

Update 4:

If the asker doesn't select a best answer, it goes to a vote. If nobody votes, or if the vote is tied, it can just sit there for months until it's not a tie anymore.

For the -2 points, the question was probably deleted and your answer along with it, losing you 2 points.

I got a message where I received a best answer to a question that I answered a YEAR ago! When the asker doesn't choose a best answer, the best answer goes to a vote. If there's a tie, it can go on and on . . . until there is no longer a tie. In the case that I mentioned above, it took an entire year. I couldn't even remember the question when I received the best answer. <shrug> Meh . . .

As for the -2 taking so long to show up, Yahoo's servers can get bogged down with the millions of users on here. Sometimes it takes a while for things to update. Have you ever noticed that if you're online during the middle of the night it's MUCH faster? Same thing -- peak times are slower.

Some times a question can get tied up in a tie break so some one has voted and broken the tie.

It would be the remval of the question, so you loose the 2 points you got for you answer.

the -2 for the removed answer is probably a preliminary violation -- watch your email for the notice. The other 10 points will come off when / if you lose your appeal or your appeal time expires.

to the month ago answer one the question was probarbly in voiting which can go on for ages unless someone votes for your question. And the minus two points will be because the question you answered the person who asked the question will have deleted your answer idk why but thats why your 2 points got taken back

    hope i helped

well, the first one, sounds like the person that asked the question extended the question, hoping for more answers, did it finally go to vote, or did the asker pick?

the 2nd one..the minus 2 pts, i don't know. maybe it takes a while for the points to go through the system.

i din't know we lost points for removing a question. i know we lost them for asking!
