Halter Fitting Problem?
I just bought a gorgeous dark blue halter from a large tack store that wasn't in my city. The color goes extremely well with my dark bay Quarter Horse, and I was happy to finally find it. However, when I went to use the halter today I found that it was just a tad too small for his face. I won't be able to take it back, and plus, I don't want to. Is there any easy way that I can make the hatler a little bigger to fit him better?

it kind of depends on where it doesn't fit - if it's fully adjustable then you can use a hot nail to put more holes in it (if there is room). Other than that you would need a special sewing machine for doing halters - you are better off getting a new one.

Anywhere you try to add length is just more likely to break when pressure is applied (say the horse sets back). You can sew leather onto the crown peice to make it longer (therefore making the noseband farther down the nose, where it is narrower), but it will become a break-away halter, so I wouldn't use it on a horse that has spooking issues. You can also see if you can mail it in and exchange it that way.

Normally the only way u can adjust a halter would be the over the poll strap ..if the nose band doesn't fit it will make ur horse sore and may do damage.I suggest u get a new one this time to fit .

Other than making a new hole I don't think there is any way to make it bigger safely. Maybe you can sell that one and get a new one.
