Running Question?
I have a question for expert runners out there. I've been running for about 6 months now. I run every day for 3 miles at 6 mph. My question is this. As far as weight loss and endurance is concerned, is it better to run at a faster pace for a shorter amount of time, or a slower pace (5 mph) for a longer time and distance. I've been alternating lately between 6 and 6.5 mph and trying to throw a few minutes of 7 mph in there but it's hurting my legs. What's the better solution? Thanks everyone!

Your best bet is to get a heart rate monitor that is calibrated by percentages. Then monitor your heart rate and keep it at 70% of your max heart rate to optimize your fat burning capability. Try Polar and Sunto brands, they do percentages.
The other part to the story is that you have to run for more that 30 minutes while in the 70% zone. For a beginner try 35-45 minutes three or four times a week. Try four to six weeks at three to four days a week. Once you get into better shape, increase the time to 60-70 min for a couple of days and then increase four days to six days.

I read that you loose more weight by walking at a fast pace than running and its better for your knees apparently!!Hope this helps!!!

It's better to increase your heart rate for as long as possible to burn fat. while running faster burns faster your personal speed difference isn't big enough to run less. You should run as long as possible to burn the most calories

lol.....while my dad's away and are not able to select me up and i am approximately to overlook the bus (which might actually imply me having to take an hour lengthy stroll again residence as there don't seem to be every other shipping amenities in which i reside!!)
