tandem pumping question?
i tandem pump switching after every feeding (if pump on left side, i put it on the right next round). i get arnd 2oz in a minute, sometimes in just 40secs!
prob(?) -baby prefers right side. hav no idea why [i've asked this b4 &tried all suggestions but she still prefers it]. so when i put her on the left to nurse, this is how our session goes : suck suck suck, push away, whimper, go back to suck suck, push away, waaaahwaaaah, suck suck, push away... you get the drift.
even with just a couple of sucks, i get a letdown, hence the pump gets its share of milk but the baby doesn't. i still try to get her to nurse from the left because after the previous pumping session, it gets fuller than the other one. sometimes, she'll "give up" & empty the left breast. sometimes, she won't "give up" & continue the pushing away deal.
so i give her back my right breast, & she'll stay there for a good 10mins! Q: does she get full? (i know there's milk but dunno if she gets full)
oh she's 5mos in 4days. her nursing habits changed 2wks ago -- instead of 15-20mins on one side, and then another 15-20 on the other side, she nurses 15mins on one side and she's all done.she refuses to do round2. she lasts for around 3hrs before asking to nurse again, so i guess she got full on the one boob. that's why i started the tandem pumping sessions

As babies get older they get better at nursing and can get their fill faster. Just keep using the pump on the left, if you have a problem with it being too full then start doing a 15-20 min pumping session and then go back in an hour or so to do it again.
My daughter is a very slow eater and doesn't like to be switched (she wants ro eat at only one side per feeding thankfully she eats from both) and will often nurse on one side for about 30 min or more (she is 2 months old). I often have to pull out the pump to empty the other breast because she doesn't like me to take her off (loud crying protests) before she is done and gets her fill off the one side too. I am at least able to switch breast every feeding though.
Just try a 15 to 20 min pumping session during feeding if not do it after she is done and happy.

if she is satisfied and stops nursing then yes.10 minutes is as long as she feeds?hmmm....mine usually did 20 on each side! if she prefers the right side...let her nurse the right side and pump the left. or keep trying what you are doing.she will eventually get used to switching.
