Passat rear tyre problem.?

I have a new style 55 reg Passat Sport 2.0TDI. When I had the tyres replaced yesterday I noticed the two rear ones were completely smooth on the inner edges, despite having 2mm over the remaining 90% of the width. Apparently this is a common problem on the new Passats, but Volkswagen won't admit it. Does anyone else have any further information or can enlighten me in any way over this. The tyre depot have obviously seen this before, and advised to have the rear suspension settings looked at.

Update:

Unfortunately the warranty ran out last year due to the mileage I do (almost 100K now), so VW want me to pay, and the tyres have always been rotated. I have since found this problem on other web sites (www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=16627), so it's far from being just mine, just that VW won't admit theit settings are wrong, hence asking me to pay, which I don't think I should have to.

The car's still covered under the manufactures warranty. Take it to your local VW dealership and speak to the service desk. They'll book the car in for an investigation and should rectify any problems at no cost to yourself.

this could properly be a consumer-friendly situation on the B6 style Passats. there is an argument with the camber placing of the rear wheels, the place the interior edges of the tyres placed on suitable away, giving the comparable noise as a wheel bearing has long gone.examine out the VW communicate board information superhighway web site, the place this situation is comprehensively coated, no longer that VW has ever admitted the issue publicly, whether they have despatched own suggestion to sellers on the thank you to handle it. My automobile had the comparable issue, so I persevered at my interior of reach VW broker featuring them with the information I had accrued, until eventually they taken care of it free of cost.
