Recommend a hotel or B&B in San Francisco?

I am planning to be in SF the first week of November. It is actually the 3rd leg of our honeymoon. Since its the 3rd leg of our trip and SF is an active city, we really dont want to spend too much on the room. The first 2 weeks will be full of R&R so we wont mind a busy area and smaller room.

Any suggestions of B&Bs or hotels... beyond the typical hilton, mariott, etc. We are aiming at $100-175 per night.

Thanks

Joie de Vivre http://www.jdvhotels.com/ has several hotels in the Union Square area within your budget. Two that you may want to consider are 25 rooms B&B's just three blocks from Union Sqare. They are the White Swan Inn a sort of inn similar to small London Inns or The Petite Auberge a French Country Inn.

    Congratulations on your marriage.

One suggestions is the San Remo Hotel in North Beach. It is a small hotel (62 rooms) and North Beach is a fun neighborhood.

Also, here is a webpage with Bed and Breakfast suggestions that you might want to check out.

You can sometimes get a good rate on some of the more expensive hotels.

If you really want to go cheap there is a Youth Hostel listed here:

    Hope these help...

For an eclectic experience, the Red Victorian B&B in the Haight Ashbury is pretty...different.

If you're going to have a car, and want closer access to the Fisherman's Wharf area (and Golden Gate Bridge), I like this little motel--the people are nice, the rooms are sweet, it's quiet but very close to major streets, and unusual for SF, it has a pool:

This is an interesting question, and one that intrigued me for quite some time.
