Eskom shedding 3x?

I can understand why Eskom does not powershed weekends as small industries normally all shut down on Friday afternoon. But now they are saying they will powershed 3x a week. My question is how do they know this will be needed before hand? http://www.news24.com/News24/South_Africa/Power_Cr...

I know that there is quiet a few units off at this time for general maintenance . So how can they say this for sure as a unit can trip at any time.

Cheryl, there is still the misconception that when they load shed they are actually storing the power - this is not true - so load shedding on weekends when power demand is lower will not help them "store" power for the coming week, it just means they will be producing less electricity (which is the right way) because then they are saving their dwindling coal reserves....

It is generally a GROOT GEMORS!! - they cant even get the load shedding schedules right!! - and this 10% saving - saving 10% from when? its easy to say save it - but my bill fluctuates between 10 and 15% every month - so do I save 10% from my most expensive account or my lowest account - like all other aspects of ESKOM it has been implemented completely without any forethought

AS usual the only problem with eskoms' planning is the lack there off?

The problem is coal. They are now producing less power so they can stockpile some coal for the winter months.

Unfortunately we have to deal with Loadsharing, but what I can't understand is, when a cold spell hits the country, we all have loadshedding, by "we all" - I mean even us Durbanites - who don't even own heaters, why must we - who notice it's not boiling in the morning decide not to use our aircons and stay in our shorts and sandals have to suffer load shedding because most of our inland neighbours and the Capies have to use their heaters, shouldn't it only be them who must experience the load sharing as it is them who are using more power than normal (On these days in particular)?

Its just too many power consumers and not enough power stations to supply the needs. The majority of "voters" get the power and the "others" have power sharing....

*Says she who has been on the receiving end of far, far, far too many power cuts!*
