    Maybe they think it is interesting because they don't know the answer but want to. Or they thought someone else already gave the right answer and thumbs upped them.

    They may have used up their answering limit for the day and wanted to leave a mark of appreciation for the awesome and interesting question. You know how when you're at your limit, you don't really have another way of showing your interest. Good thing that star is there.

    I did that once. I marked it as interesting so the next day when I got more chances to answer, I could go and answer the question.

    Hope that helped. :)

    Maybe they don't know the answer, or can't think of what to say. Or someone else already gave the answer they were going to give. That's why I sometimes mark a question as interesting, but don't answer it.

    Crikey mate, you got that many great answers to your question !! My reasons for starring and not answering have already been said by other posters but i'll tell you anyway!!

    * Somebody's already done a magnificient job of answering the question and i'll star it anyways cos i thought the question was great;

    * Or it could be that one of my more learned buddies would do a much better job of answering the question so i'll star it ......... in that instance though, i would usually tell the asker that they've got a star from me cos i want my buddies to have the chance to pop in an answer;

    * lastly, it could be that i'm running around like a hairy chook trying to multitask and i'll star it so as i can find it later on ......... when i can answer it properly and give it the time it deserves ♥

    I have actually done that on two or three occasions. The reason I did not answer them is because a couple of my contacts have better knowledge about the breed in question and may be able to help that person a lot better then I can.

    I answer and star if interesting...

    why, everyone of my contacts are great, and if I feel they may have a little more insight on the dogs situation, I will star it.

    I don't give that many stars, unless the questions need a broader range of views.....

    and sometimes, people say oh its my birthday and I get to they are and we all star it for them......haven't had one of those for awhile.

    I think alot of people star them, they feel they may not know the complete answer or their quota is up for the night and they want to keep track of the answers for that particular answer...I know when I first started, that is how I kept up with the good questions...

    Because sometimes I see a question which is interesting but I know that one of my contacts will be much better at answering it because they have more knowledge of that subject than I. So if I star it, they will see that it has been noted even I haven't answered it.

    Sometimes it is interesting but has been answered adequately before I look at it and I know that I can't improve on the answer given already.

    It's not always neglect.

    On may not HAVE an answer for question but mark it so their FRIENDS may spot it or they MAY do as I do, and mark nearly ALL their contacts' questions whether they answer or not.

    Some of us consider it a courtesy and token of friendship.

    Asking this question I can guarantee you that there will be at least one person who marks this as interesting and doesn't answer it.

    To answer your question, lower levels have a limit to the number of questions they can answer. They may still mark questions as interesting however they cannot answer that question.

    Many questions I've marked as interesting are already closed to new answers otherwise I would answer them.

    Sometimes, it is to alert my contacts to a question that they are better qualified to answer.

    Sometimes, it is to see if the question gets the correct or most helpful answer, and I will answer if it doesn't.

    Sometimes, it is something of special interest to me, so I mark it to watch

    Sometimes,. people just ask for a 'star', and I oblige
