Call me silly...but does the AC/Heater in a car have a filter on it?
As in if you had allergies, or a non smoker had purchased a car from a smoker? How can you clean out those vents?

Actually, the ventilation air is pulled in from the outside or recirculated from within the passenger compartment. One of our associates suggest that you can start your car, turn the AC up high--although not on maximum-so it is pulling in air from outside your vehicle. Usually, vents are located under the windshield of a vehicle. You can try spraying a non-toxic air freshener or neutralizer such as Fabreeze or Ozium into the exterior vents and the AC system will pull in the cleaner smelling air to help improve the airflow. You might also have your upholstery and carpets cleanred at a car wash to remove smells from smoke. We hope this helps. Some cars do. The best thing to do is to check your manual.
Even if you have one, I don't think it will help remove a smoke odor. The best two things I've found for smoke odors are Odoban and Ozium. And make sure that you wash the ashtray, the smell can linger for a long time if there is ground in residue in the ashtray.

Depending on the year & model, they are equipped with a cabin filter. Consult your owner's manual.
