Apparently, the name originated in the 1800s, when a large number of German immigrants began to move to the US. With them, they brought lots of sausages, but they also brought long, thin, dachshund dogs. The similarity in shape between the two is what probably prompted someone to dub the sausages "hot dogs" and the name stuck. No one person can be attributed to this, but the name was so popular that for many years, when someone said they wanted a "dog," they were inevitably referring to the frankfurter and not to a puppy.

Names really are only good for soup. People try to label all the time for my Fashion choices of what I am or seem to be. My reasoning is that the term hot dog is the fact their served hot and with the condiments of your choice!

I use to eat raw hot dogs as a kid and I'm a senior now. So I guess they are not that bad,for you.Very fatty food, with a bunch of additives, consume carefully in moderation.

A sausage dog is long like a sausage, so it is a hot dog, it also sounds cool and is quicker to say than sausage in a bun. Corn dogs.

because the person who made it first was a dog,he was confused that what name should he give to his recipe.he had never watched his*******.so he let down all the clothes on the floor.suddenly a guest came and shout "what a hot dog" and then the dog give same name to his recipe.
