Do you like Coca Cola? Perhaps you might just change your mind after reading this,,,?

In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.

You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of coke and it will be gone in two days.

To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and......Let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china.

To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a crumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

To clean corrosion from car battery terminals. Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.

To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before the ham is finished, Remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.

To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, And run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.

FYI:

The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. Its Ph is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about 4 days.

To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the commercial truck must use the Hazardous material place cards reserved for Highly corrosive materials.

The distributors of coke have been using it to clean the engines of their trucks for about 20 years

Do you still like Coca-Cola or not?

    This is absolutely preposterous.

(With a BS in chemistry I will point out several things false about this)

The concentrations of citric and phosphoric acid are VERY small and contribute very little to the pH. The ph ranges from the low end of 2.8 and upwards of 4.5 for coke products. (the human vagina's ph range is from 3.8-4.5 for comparison).

The ph is mostly effected by an acid you didn't even list here, carbonic acid H2CO3, and it is a weak acid. The contributions from citric acid (another weak acid) and phosphoric acid are very small. It would remove blood from pavement, it is false however that highway patrol carry it around, they use a more effective compound, but pure soda water would be better than coke for this because the concentration of H2CO3 is higher for regular soda water.

It wouldnt dissolve a steak (or even get close to dissolving one) feel free to try it, i call it a waste of steak. DId i mention all all sodas have carbonic acid in them? not just coke?

Your statement about the pH of phosphoric acid is invalid. A nail would not dissolve in a solution where the concentration of H+ ions are only .001 molar (which is what it is at 2.8pH). There are simply not enough ions in solution to dissolve it. The pH of ANY acidic solution completely depends on the concentration of acid and the pH of your stomach acid is even lower than that. (which cannot dissolve a nail either, try eating one) You dont know the concentration of H3PO4 in solution so you cannot say anything about the contribution of the pH. OR what it could do. With the moderately high pH of 2.8 (relative to a highly concentrated strong acid solution) the concentration of H3PO4 would be extremely low, i doubt it would dissolve part of a thumbtack. But now we know that cokes ph comes mostly from the carbonic acid in the coke, so that is not a worry. The "active ingredient"s concentration is so low, most analytical chemists would neglect the pH contribution from it while preforming experiments and calculations.

I hope THIS has been enlightening to see actual science and what coke really is. You dont need to be afraid to drink coke as long as you brush your teeth.

Another note Carbonic acid is just the dissociation of CO2 when dissolved in water. It forms HCO3- and H+ (for the bulk of the acid contribution) so when you look at the ingredients, no you wont see carbonic acid. You will see carbonated water as the first ingredient, which is the source of carbonic acid. :)

Yes, I still like coke, only because I won't be doing any of those with my can of Coca-Cola.

I don't like Coke because when I was a kid my mother would give us the Coke syrup when we were really sick. It was so sweet and tasted really gross. I'm a Pepsi fan but I only drink diet. I'm thinking that it isn't much better but I can't live without my Diet Pepsi products, I try not to indulge in more than one a day though.

I've always been partial to an espresso flavored soda called Manhattan Special, produced in Brooklyn NY.

By the way, phosphoric acid is what makes it fizz. Any product containing that will give you the same corrosive results.

No, I never really liked any sort of pop (except when I was a kid.) All the bubbles gives me a bad headache. If I EVER drink it (which is close to never) I let it sit out for a while until it goes flat, then I drink it. But, I am more fond of juice.

well that is an extremely interesting bunch of info, but isn't it basically true about ALL canned sodas. I mean they say the diet soda will do all sorts of crazy things to ur body. But , it matters not because I really don't like coke, I 'm a PEPPER>

Yes, I like coke and no it is not a nutritional drink.

The pH of stomach acid is between 1 and 2. It's hydrochloric acid is a much stronger acid than phosporic acid.

Yes, I still do. I like diet Coke though. My ex and I had a janitorial company and we used to use use Coke to loosen up the grease on the ground at a car repair shop. It worked wonders.
