Possible Independent Truckers Strike?

Will the independent truckers strike? Isn't it overdue?

http://www.yahoo.com/s/846909

Update:

Look at the train yards and see how many Black tank cars are sitting there. DOT code 1993. Truckers know what I mean.

Update 3:

Consensus from Independent truckers:

I am a truck driver. I am not one man or woman. We are a nation inside of a nation. We are the backbone that keeps this country running. We deliver the foods, clothing, furniture, gasoline, cars and everything that makes your day to day life possible. We sacrifice our time away from our family and friends. We live our day to day lives without most ammenities that alot of people take forgranted. We drive all day and night making sure the things you need are available for you when you need them. We are good hard working men and women who also have families, homes, cars, etc. to take care of just like you do.Were not asking you for a hand out or a hand up. All we want is to make the money we deserve for the simple ammenities that any hard working family deserves. The rising cost of fuel is not only hurting us as truck drivers but very soon will be hurting all of us as one nation. Soon the rising cost of fuel will make the goods you use in your day to day life more expensive and harder to obtain. The way things are going now is already effecting truck drivers home life. We cannot afford to maintain the simple ammenities for ourselves and families and deliver what you need with the rising fuel costs. If we cant even afford the cost of our truck how can we get the goods to the markets? This is not a problem that only effects us as truck drivers but it also effects everyone in this great nation. As the great nation we are we need to strive to come together to think of a solution for this problem. My name is Daniel I am but one voice in a voice of many who live in this great nation of ours. I would like to see this nation handed down to our sons and daughters as great as it was when it was handed to us from our mothers and fathers.

Yes you got to do what you ( need to do ) I am a uaw member and you can only put up with so much and sitting back and watch the upper management or the company's just keep right on making un godly amount of money and watching the working class people go down further down the hole. you would think thay were smart enough to understand with out us thay have nothing. I guess thay need to see this again. you know i wish i could just have enough money just to live a normal life and yes it would be nice to have extra money to do things for your family and your kids but with people like them this will never happen to our families. we will just keep on struggling to the point that we cannot do it no more and then we just lose everything that we have worked for all of our lives. so yes I am right behind you and good luck to you and the other truckers and there families. just stand strong I've been there before and yes it hurts alot but in the long run it will pay off.

as of the internet this a.m. 4-1-08, only the Penn. truckers are going to DC. They are, however, asking all independent drivers to either take the day off or drive slower. I am not happy myself about the soaring prices of fuel. There are a few companies that don't use imported oil to refine. As to if our boycotting the other companies who do, time will tell. Here are some large companies that

DO NOT import Middle Eastern oil:

    Sunoco....................... 0 barrels

    Conoco................ 0 barrels

    Sinclair................ 0 barrels

    BP/Phillips.......... 0 barrels

    Hess..................... 0 barrels

    ARC0. ................. 0 barrels

Also: Pilot, Flying J, Love's, RaceTrac, Valero

All of this information is available from the Department of Energy

and each is required to state where they get their oil and how much

    they are importing.

I myself only use Conoco or Sinclair and do hope that between the truckers and our boycotts that things will change. Walking isn't so bad, let the business who need to use what they feel is neccesary . I am done with their billion dollar profits.

All doors are open presently & every tom dick & harry is free to have a go, choose your name & kick Indian cricket for free, they are responsible for this mess. Not guilty till proven so but everyone is looking for more sensation & especially some people who are here at YA only for this purpose, so can't expect any sympathy. Look at the answer SBS has given & you'll understand that a balanced person has balanced views & others with imbalanced views can count themselves accordingly & there are plenty of them around. Kicking someone already on the ground is easy but hardly anyone extends a helping hand & they stand out in millions..

Yes the diesel price is terrible, it is so much higher than regular gas, and it is cheaper to make, so why are we getting charged a higher price, i wish good luck to all the truckers and other people in the transportation business,it is hard to make a living now days. i guess we should all quit and go on welfare

Truck drivers...independent or otherwise...have every right to be concerned about the inexplicable increase in fuel costs...and should strike if they are so inclined.

As for largely useless diatribe about 'middle east oil' from Jackie J...JJ should actually read the website he/she is referencing in his/her post...because a good percentage of the information posted is horribly inaccurate.

I guess in JJ's opinion, it's better to be deceived, lied to and/or robbed by an American company??
