Dog lovers - watch Oprah on Friday?

I got this in the mail from a good friend of mine. I'm cutting and pasting FYI

And my question is: Will you watch and spread the word?

Please - urge everyone you know to

watch Oprah on Friday, April 4th.

She is covering an issue that I am very passionate about - Puppy Mills. The

general public has no clue about the abuse, neglect and suffering going on

behind closed kennel doors - or behind the Amish barn doors. If people

really knew, there would be a public outcry and the consumer would stop

putting money in the puppy miller's pockets and they would quit buying dogs

at pet stores. The fastest way to shut down this horrific industry is

education. Please forward this on to everyone you know. It is a huge

industry that most people would be surprised to know is happening in the

United States.

FRIDAY - OPRAH - APRIL 4th

Update:

No worries Tony. =)

Why should dog lovers watch an old cow?

    LOL :)

Tells you so much how people "educate" themselves :)

Late Entry : Hi Cindy, it wasn't personal :)

My apologies. I get your point :)

Im in Australia so we probably wont get the episode her for a while but I just wanted to say good on Oprah! There really isnt enough education/information out there about puppy mills and I think this will really open peoples eyes up to the cruelty that the dogs go through when theyre in puppy mills. And will hopefully put an end to alot of the mills.

    Thanks for posting this!

A *child*? That would be very interesting. I actually don't like Oprah, but since I set the TiVo for Sinead O'Connor's appearance there, I may as well set it for this, too. I love Jerry Springer when I'm home sick, actually, but we need a viewpoint about transsexuality that's much more sophisticated than his.

Thanks Cindy! I'm in class on Friday so I've got my bro taping it for me. I'm so glad that she's doing this. Even if, locally, puppy mills have been investigated by news stations and whatnot, the problem really does need a BIG name to help bring it to people's attention. Unfortunately, it sometimes requires action from a celebrity for the general public to actually take something serously.

Thank you for posting about this. More information about puppy mills is needed. Maybe if we get onto the websites of the the other talk shows they can also get the message out and get these people shut down.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing. I also feel strongly about that subject and I am glad that Oprah is helping spread the word. I hope I am not at work when Oprah comes on. Otherwise I will need to wait for a re-run :)

    Good!

One of my own dogs was rescued from an Amish puppy mill. I'm glad O's doing this.

Wonderful! So many people watch Oprah that hopefully that will educate many, many people!

More shows need to expose puppy mills and petshops for what they really are.

I'm kinda torn about this. On one hand, I can see getting rid of the truly horrible puppy mills (commercial breeders being the real name).

On the other, well run commercial breeders are needed as well. Hobby breeders can't supply the demand for puppies. There aren't enough of them to do so. Plus with more and more restrictive legislation coming out, hobby breeders are essentially shutting their doors because they can no longer afford to breed or are sick of trying to jump through the hoops required.

If you want to shut down the truly abusive commercial breeders I have no issue with it, but well run commercial breeders fill a roll and imho should remain open.

I will watch it. If not that day I will tape it and I did pass it on to everyone I know.

oh my gosh, I am so happy that she is covering this! More people need to know about this, and I am glad someone watched so much and so much appreciated is talking about it. Kudos to Oprah!
