You have to do more research on this breed. Huskies and Sheps are great dogs, but Pit's score way better on temperament testing, actually they score right near the top. Pit's used to be called the nanny dog in the first half of the century because they were actually used to "babysit". What happened was is the thugs, punks and cowards that realized how loyal Pits were and would do anything for their owner used that great trait against them for fighting and attacking, this could happen to any dog though. This has not happened to the vast majority of Pits. They are some of the most caring, goofy and nicest dogs you will come across. And as far as the ugly dog thing, you are by far in the vast minority in this thinking. They are beautiful dogs and have some of the most unique marking of any breed.

I raised an aligator pit from a puppy. If anyone knows that breed they get pretty big. Anyways, I moved and gave him to a friend of ours that live out in the country, he has never showed in aggression towards a human being. When he was about 1 years old he got stolen off my property, and the teens that took him tried to get him to fight and he wouldn't. We got him back and he still was not mean at all after being put through hell for 6 weeks. He is on a tether at my friends house and will not attack a dog unless that dog jumps on him first. Rocky will be nice and loving until the other dogs start it then he will finish the job. He has killed one dog, but it was over food and the other dog was littler and I don't think Rocky did it intentionally. He was full grown and I got a Boston Terrier puppy and he loved that little dog. Most of the time the dogs that start the fight with Rocky are labs. I love labs but have seen some mean ones. Research next time before posting a stupid question. Thats what the internet it for, use it.

UGHHHHHH! German Shepherd and Huskies can be just as deadly as a pit bull. And no pit bulls are not the toughest dogs on Earth. Try looking up the Bully Kutta.

I like pitbulls. I have met some very good-looking and well behaved/sweet dogs. They need the right owner as a lot of these type of dogs do because they are ultra smart. It's a dog. It's not a person. It's not going to do just do something because you said so. It has its own language. Responsible owners really understand this and take it to heart. Don't let a few rotten apples spoil this wonderful breed. Any dog can be a threat to a person just like any person can be a threat to another person. It's just not black and white.
I've never been attacked by a pitbull or any other dog. Maybe it's because I've been around animals my entire life. I understand dogs, to an extent. It's not that complicated.

I had a pit bull, he was the most loving, kind dog I have ever had!!! of course he was trained and we went to the park and stuff like that where he could be around people and other dogs. The only thing I worried about with him was that he might lick someone to death!! lol! We had a fence all the way around our yard and thru our driveway, my 2 year old would go outside to play and if the gate was open the dog would go lay down in the drive way and if my son went anywhere near the gate the dog would walk up beside him and gently knock him over to keep him in the yard. That's just how smart and caring he was! They are great dogs, as long as you train them and you are good to them and you have to have them around other dogs and people!

Yes, and people can kill a child too, theoretically. So can a Mack truck, or a gun, or a runaway rhinoceros.
If the dog is raised, socialized and trained properly, then there's no reason not to have a pit bull. It's just that some breeds (mastiff types especially) are more easily trained to be "fighting dogs" due to inbred characteristics that have been bred into them over the years. So you'd have more luck making a guard dog out of a pit bull than a golden retriever. But just because you COULD doesn't mean you should, or you will.

The whole pit bull thing is a stereotype. Any animal can be dangerous if put in the wrong situation. My house cat could do serious damage. People are so worried about pit bulls but they truly are a loving animal-- if raised in the right environment. People have preferences that's why they keep pit bulls, have you never seen a vicious german shepherd? -- I have. They need to stop banning these animals and take steps towards helping them. Like offer obedience classes when they are puppies to get them off on the right start. It makes me sick to hear all the horror stories of what people are trying to do to get rid of pit bulls. PLEASE PLEASE reconsider your thoughts!

theres a few things wrong with what you just said
1. you have a better chance of being bitten by a husky or sheperd.
2.There is no such breed as a pit bull
3.The APBT is not the toughest breed in fact the breed is dwarfed by the Irish Wolfhound
4.A pit bull can be loving towards anyone not just its owner
5.Your picking on a dog
6.A APBT is not the only breed capable of killing and FYI a six week old baby was killed by a Pomeranian
