If I am suppose to take medicine 3 times a day, how many hours apart is it suppose to be?
Some of my friends say is 4hrs, others 6hrs but when I am in the hospital it is 8 hrs (they wake me up in the middle of the night to take it)
So how many hours apart for general medication? Say paracetamol or propanolol?

By Definition:
"Three times a day" = pharmacy acronym's "t.i.d" = morning, noon and night.
"Three times a day" is not meant to be a strict time interval.
Whereas a physician that wants a more strict separation and defined time interval will write instead of "three times a day" but "q8hrs"
By Definition:
"q8hrs, q10min, q1day" q anything means that the physician wants a set time interval instead of a general non-specific "three times a day"
So to summarize, your prescription is not meant to have a set time interval. If your MD wanted a set time interval they would have written it in a different format.

Most people that take medication tid (three time per day) do it morning, midday, and night. If the medication is meant to be taken with food then a good time would be right after a meal. Otherwise, on awakening, at lunch, and just before bed would be good. The level of your medication needs to be stable over time, but every 8 hours is not necessarily the correct answer although this mathematically divides the day into 3 parts...

I have no idea what you are doing with a 4 weeks old puppy, should still be with it's mother and littermates for at least another 4 to 6 weeks. Are you sure you gave the right wormer for this? Did your vet give this to you after doing a fecal and identifying the worms? If your pup still seems listless and sleepy, take her to the vet. Deworming has to be done at least 3 times, 2 weeks apart you know as all puppies are born with worms --- but you must get the poor little thing to the vet to have the worms identified via a fecal. Giving the wrong de-wormer can kill your puppy - this is not the place to be cheap.

She's more than likely able to rest well for the first time since she was born. Large roundworms are painful. When she wakes up, she should have a lot more energy and pep. However, 4 weeks is way too young to be away from mom & siblings. You're to be commended if you saved her from a bad situation, but understand that she will have problems relating correctly to other dogs for the rest of her life because she was never taught how to act while she was the proper age.

*When taking 3 times a day......Whatever time you get up, til you go to bed would equal total hours in your day. I don't believe the Doctor would wake you, especially in the middle of the night, to give you antibiotics, you do need your rest. Example : 9am...3 pm.....9pm. The trick here is to divide your waking hours up evenly so there is a balance of antibiotics in the body while awake. I would strongly suggest taking a probiotic either 1 hr. before or 1 hr. after taking the antibiotic to prevent diarrhea or yeast infection. I would continue taking the probiotics for 2 weeks after finishing the antibiotic. Blessings to your health .

I was going to say 4 hrs b/c normally docs don't prescribe meds that you have to wake up in the middle of the night to take, when you're at home. But if they were spacing it out to every 8 hrs in the hospital, you need to ask your doctor. Four hrs vs. eight hrs when taking a medication is a big difference. You need to know how long you should wait before it's safe to take the next dose. (And we on Y! Answers wouldn't know that. Talk to the doc!)

Doctor told me when prescribing that every 6 hours. But when I asked the pharmacist for double-checking, I was told that every 8 hours. Good luck - no standard in the profession.
