Flowmaster 40 series VS. CherryBomb Glasspack?
I currently have a Flowmaster 40 series muffler on my 00' Dodge Dakota (V8 4.7) I am looking for the sound. Alot of people say mine sounds great but I'm not sure if I should stick with the 40 series or get a cherrybomb glasspack. Which is louder? Please answer if you are experienced with this field. Thanks.

Stay with flowmaster, glasspacks over time will sound ragged even worse than those coffee can import mufflers.
If your state allows ever try just straight pipe? It sounded good on my 69, but with a cat converter I have never tried this.

Sorry, but you're not going to get a loud rumble out of a V6. For a V6 Mustang you really don't want an exhaust that screams "I have a V6" people will just mock you. I would indeed go with something more mellow and smooth sounding like Flowmaster 50 or a Dynomax.

You really can't get a loud rumble sound from a V6, but you can get a decent exhaust note using the Pypes true duel system for a V6, which uses a violator muffler.. but it depends on what year your car is as there are different systems for each year model as the undercarriage and muffler placement is different.. Mine is a 2008 which in 2005 Ford went to an axleback design, putting the mufflers behind the rear axles. I went with the Pypes super system using the race style (cherrybomb looking) mufflers in front of the axles and Resonators in the original muffler locations to prevent the popping sound usually associated with the race mufflers. Check with American Muscle dot com and look at all the V6 conversion exhaust kits they have to offer...

I'm sure cherrybombs would be louder, but I love the sound of a 40 series vs. the hillbilly sound of glasspacks, but if thats the sound you're looking for then go for it. Good luck.

Personally, I'm not a huge flowmaster fan. Glasspacks are the **** - my dad put em on his dodge.

.
I have 00 Durango 5.9 and it sounded like someone was choking it - the glass sounds way better, just depends on the end tips... for amplification...
2 1/2 pipe ending in a 4 in downward - can't hear it the light..

id stay with the 40 series, because the glass packs burn out to fast and then they start the popping sound when you let off the gas,the 40 series will burn out some, but will last a lot longer and hold the sound you have a lot longer, good luck with it.
