Is anyone out there deathly afraid of dentist like I am?
I am about to embark on a mouthful of work on my teeth. It has been years since I've been to the dentist, tomorrow morning they start pulling teeth. I will be knocked out but am afraid to wake up;I don't do well with pain. They will be pulling 6 teeth, bone reconstruction too. The worst part is I have to work at 8:00 sat. morning, the drugs better be great!!!!

I would suggest that you call in sick Sat morn. If you are having 6 teeth pulled you want make it even with the drugs. I just had a back molar pulled Tue. morning and I am still not healed up. This is a bottom tooth and I was given Tylox. About 6 years ago I had all my top teeth pulled and a denture was put in the same day. They had to pull some and had to cut some out. I was out of it for about a week and my mouth bleed quite a bit. I had 13 removed that day, which is quite a bit more than you are having done but I would call out Sat. and stock up on jello and pudding and make some mashed potatoes. I was afraid also that day but they gave me a sedative and I had a really wonderful Dr. The pain was well managed but the bleeding was the worst part.
Just read Patricia answer. What a way to make someone feel better. They shouldn't put you to sleep like an anesthisaologist does unless you are going to an oral surgeon and then they still give you gas. Don't worry about her postings.

Oh, poor you!!! Sometimes the anesthetic doesn't competely work. You can't move, but can feel everything. I just saw a documentary on this. Good luck.
