Is it ever a good idea to send a letter to an ex?

I am thinking of sending a short letter (very short) to my ex. He is about to have a baby with his new gf. I just want to say congratulations. I don't want to add anything about when we dated, and I don't want to get back together.

We ended our relationship on bad terms, really bad terms. I thought I'd be the "bigger man" here...and try to put an end to the hate between us, and everything that never got said. But I'm not sure it would come off that way. Does it seem desperate?

Any thoughts/ comments are appreciated.

No. If his pregnant girlfriend is at all insecure then it will stir trouble when they should be concentrating on a healthy pregnancy and baby. It will not make him feel kindly toward you either, as he will wonder why you have chosen this time to contact him.

Sometimes it is better to just let things that have died stay buried. and this is one of them. After the baby comes , if you run into them on the street it is ok to say congratulations, but other than that, you should stay out of it.

I would just leave everything alone. You said you ended on bad terms and now wouldnt be a good time to start talking considering they are having a baby. Even though you just want to send a nice congratulations, I would leave it alone. Sorry.

I understand where you are coming from. If you just call or txt him to say "hey congrats on the baby i wish you the best of luck' short and simple like that no harm down. Lets him know you are happy for him. It might make the current girl friend jealous. Just do keep it simple. Good luck!
