What is the best color on a solid (true) black horse?
I just got a horse a few nights ago and I am buying her a new halter, splint boots, and some other stuff. I can't decied what color I like best on her.
I have a pink & light blue saddle pad. I think the blue looks good on her, while my mom thinks she looks "pretty in pink"
any other colors too.
Which will look best on her?
I know it's more of a person perefence (sp?) but I need some oppions!
The only other thing to help you know the color of her is that she is DARK DARK DARK black. with no brown. and her star is 4 pieces of white hairs. (you don't notice the star)
Thanks!

I would say any neon colors Lime Green, Hot Pink, Bright Yellow, Neon Orange, Even a Royal Blue would be pretty. Like you said its more of a personal choice than anything. If I was you do like I did go to walmart and buy some ribbon in the colors that you think would go best take them home and have someone hold them up by your horse and see what you think and go from there.

Are you referring to every day using tack or go to town, show off your horse tack? Depending on the answer, your choice should be different. At home, I try to use colors that don't show the use as much, by use, I guess I mean abuse, as things do get laid down at home where a good show halter would never get laid at a show.. I think that is is important to get a color that is easy to find in the dark r in a pile of hay or whatever. Also, the construction and fit is more important to me than the color of something that I am mostly going to be using at home. I guess when I see those pink halters, I think, "novice" and I can't even explain why...also, depending on your horse's conformation, you might not want to put neon on a "not so perfect" head, if you know what I mean. When it comes to saddle pads, I personally think that the more subtle, the classier and the more flattering to your horse. I also think that sometimes, riders themselves tend to think that they always have to choose contrasting colors in which to show...not always so...you can do a lot with colors to cover up some bad riding habits that you might have not yet conquered...blending in isn't always so bad. You can wear the same color as your horse and just use something like the blouse or a scarf for contrast, so that you don't get lost in a class. Sometimes lots of silver on show tack looks nice, sometimes, it doesn't...you have to really be careful and customize everything that you put on you and your horse, depending on not only his color, but conformation, movement, his and yours, etc.

I like jewel tones mostly.
We have a halter for one of ours that is a sapphire kind of blue w/ forest green trim & gold lettering on the nose & gold piping on the cheeks.
It was a Birthday gift from our boys.
EDIT: I would like to go with lighter colors, but they get & show the slightest bit of dirt so easy.

Personally I wouldn't put pink on her but most other colours look great on a black horse. Red, blue, green and you should try yellow.

A black horse will look good in any bright colour. Red is always a good bet. If you are riding dressage then use a white numnah and bandages (white always looks stunning on a black horse.)

I think they both would look good on a black horse. But in my opinion the light blue would look a little better. hope that helps.

I think a dark pink, almost red, would look the best.. Or perhaps a dark purple/blue.
