When I look around me it strikes me that we have reduced Islam to ‘halal’ and ‘haram’. My dream is that a day will come that we Muslims realize how great the responsibility we bear actually is en become aware of the value of the ‘trinity’: colour, sounds and words. There is too much emphasis put on the force of words, which is indeed important. However, to tell a story much more is required. Painting, music, literature, film, etc. Our ancestors have preceded us in this matter. The comprehensiveness of Islam should be brought to the fore. We want to be heard, but unfortunately we are bad storytellers.
Allah has graced us with many capacities and abilities. Out of gratefulness for this we should learn to use these gifts. It is also very important that we learn to share this beauty. Art is creativity, creativity comes from Love, in the first place love for our Creator. So, we should firstly develop good taste while at the same time lifting ourselves up to become creative ourselves.
In my eyes art does not know religion. The best among us are those with piety, says Allah in the Qur’an. Thus, Allah did not refer to pious in terms of religion. For me it is the same with Art; it cannot be designated as either Islamic or not Islamic, but it can be seen as respectful or not, valuable or not, of good quality or not. It is in the end about beauty, and everything that raises our character to the level of the Angels. ‘Allah is Beautiful and He loves beauty’. This of course is no more than my humble opinion. Our scholars have dedicated many works to this.

It's not easy to label something Haram.
People today just make up things for their own benefit. I have no comments on this issue, some say that pictures that are digital are fine, printed ones are not okay.
I hate people who say this is Haram but do not adhere to it. I hate people who say this is Haram but still do it because of habit. I hate people who label everything Haram.
This is a controversial issue like music, birthdays, etc.

choose a different field for yourself if you fear the torment of Allah SBT.............But its haram to draw pictures and stuff..
Picture frames and photographs of animate objects are not permissible to
display. Frames having pictures of inanimate objects e.g. trees, mountains,
etc. are permissible.
- Hadhrat Abu Talha (Radhiyallaahu Ãnhu) narrates that Nabi (Sallallaahu
Ãlayhi Wasallam) said, 'Angels do not enter a house wherein there is a dog
or picture.' (Mishkãt vol. 2 p. 385)
? Ãbdullah ibn Masóod (Radhiyallaahu Ãnhu) narrates that Rasulullah
(Sallallaahu Ãlayhi Wasallam) said, 'The people with the most severe
punishment by Allah will be the picture makers.' (Ibid).
? Hadhrat Ibn Abbas (RA) narrates, 'I heard the messenger of Allah saying,
"Every picture-maker will be in the fire. A life will be created for every
picture the picture-maker made, and he will be tortured in Hell."
If you have to make pictures (says Ibn Abbaas) then make a picture of a tree
or such things which are inanimate.' (Bukhari and Muslim)

Yes, you drawing and making sculptors, which are Haram, because you're obviously going to draw or make a sculptor of a living thing eventually.
Some say taking photos is also Haram for specific reasons, but that's besides the point, the first two are much much worse.
Then what?
Find something better! There's many good things Allah has left us to enjoy out there!

Sister, the way you asked it seems like Arts are haram in Islam?
Photography is my favorite branch of art.
However, if possible, try to stay away from sculpting. Your teacher may request you to sculpt human beings or animals figure, which has been clearly forbidden in Quran :
Extract from http://islamqa.com/index.php?ref=98533&l... :
In the Book of Allah there is an indication that sculpting figures of animate beings with clay is haraam. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“(Remember) when Allah will say (on the Day of Resurrection). “O ‘Eesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)! Remember My Favour to you and to your mother when I supported you with Rooh‑ul‑Qudus [Jibreel (Gabriel)] so that you spoke to the people in the cradle and in maturity; and when I taught you writing, Al‑Hikmah (the power of understanding), the Tawraat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel); and when you made out of the clay, a figure like that of a bird, by My Permission, and you breathed into it, and it became a bird by My Permission, and you healed those born blind, and the lepers by My Permission, and when you brought forth the dead by My Permission”
[al-Maa’idah 5:110]
This verse says that “and when you made out of the clay, a figure like that of a bird, by My Permission” clearly indicate that it is haraam to make figures of clay in the form of birds – and other animate beings – and that what ‘Eesa (peace be upon him) did was only done with the permission of Allaah, so both actions were done by the permission of Allaah: making the figure and breathing into it. The words “by My Permission” indicate that it was forbidden to do that even in the law of ‘Eesa (peace be upon him)
However, note that, not all type of sculptures are haram. Just the one mention above.

Quite simply 'no'. You'd be in violation of it already.
God didn't create us to opress us. He gave us our talents, and provided you use them to bring glory to Him, and to do what is good and bring joy and peace to others than it is not haram.
You can use your talents to do things that are haram but going and studying art, music, things like that aren't haram in and of themselves.

Some sects in Islam consider the painting or sculpting of living creatures as haram, ask your sheik as i cant tell which doctrine of Islam you are following.
