Sorry for opening your eyes.?

My question really must of offended someone because it was reported as a violation.

All I asked was "Are athiest held accountable for knowing the word of God, and then rejecting it, because they read the bible".

I got some real good feedback and also negative responses.

Was my question in violation????

Update:

Sorry I can't open the original question once it has been reported and deleted.

Update 2:

What ever phillip c talking about

No, but you probably backed a xian into a corner and they couldnt find the words to defend themself, which is where the 'report' button comes in handy. Its like a get out of jail free card...with complete anonymity.

It was probably deleted because you got good feedback. It could have been worded offensively and ticked someone off. I can't say because I haven't seen the original question.

But... I can tell you this, if there is a god (or many gods) they won't hold atheists accountable in a negative way for disregarding the bible. Most of us can actually tell you more about the bible and the Christian faith than your preachers can. Many of us reject it because of what we know about it, not out of spite. A magician is only magical until you learn how the tricks are performed. After that, it's just plain trickery. Atheists such as myself have taken the time to find out what's behind the curtains and how the tricks are performed. God has nothing to do with the Christian bible, and therefore will not hold us accountable for rejecting it. If he does, it will be a reward type thing, because we were willing to learn the truth, while many others simply did as they were told.

I wouldn't say your original question was in violation, although it is pretty presumptuous. Knowing the word of God is not the same as having read the Bible UNLESS the Bible actually is the word of God, which plenty of us do not believe.

But this further one is creeping much closer to being offensive when you refer to your prior question as "opening your eyes."

What you need to do when you compose a question on R&S is try to see it from someone else's eyes. As an atheist, I try to imagine a reasonably intelligent, well informed Christian or Jew or whatever is relevant to the question. Would they understand that I do not mean to insult them, but simply to disagree with them? You can't count the hopelessly over-sensitive, of course, but aside from that, just try seeing the question from the other side's point of view.

And no, disagreement is not in itself insulting.

  • I don't really see a violation although you misspelled atheists.

I'd appeal the violation if I were you.

If you read the Vedas and then reject the Hindu deities, are you worried about being held accountable to Vishnu?

    Same answer.

I would say no, but it looks to me like you not only have to consider the "people" reporting your question, but the y-tech as well. I do not see the maturity level high in either case. As far as the troll part, just by using a diff computer no one can tell who is malicious.

Not a violation. This merely addresses the true issue of "Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit." Full knowledge and rejection of God is the unforgiveable sin. If you don't want salvation and forgiveness of sin, God does not force it upon you, and thus your state of salvation is lost forever.

    Simple.

No, we're not held accountable because we have no way of knowing WHICH God we're hearing about is the right one. I hear "his word" every day from a hundred different denominations. If God exists, he knows where to find me. He can reveal himself to me and when he does, I'll be at his house of worship.... toot sweet.

I don't know. It's a reasonable question. But atheists wouldn't worry about settling account with an imaginary being.
