Jersey, I certainly agree with you. And though I highly doubt it will happen, I would love to see the U.S. (and every other nation as well) follow Jimmy Carter's fine example and boycott the Olympics.
I love sports, but I won't be watching. To the person who wants Americans to "smoke" the competition---what are you THINKING? The future of a nation and a people are at stake here, which is ahem, SLIGHTLY more important than a few gold medals!
Since Bush and his cronies have sold us lock, stock and barrel to the Chinese, there's no doubt in my mind that we won't be boycotting. But we can do our part as individuals regardless: if the product says "Made in China", put it back on the shelf! That's what I'm doing and will continue to do for as long as it takes. Boycott those U.S. companies who refuse to withdraw their sponsorship, too!

I support any civilized democratic societies. What China has done to Tibet is disgusting.
To the poster above grow up and get out of your little American home and realise people are being oppressed here .
"olympics free of politics " Are you completely retarded ? How can people just play sports in a country where there is a communist regime that oppresses people everyday ?!
Important things first you moron !

I could care less about Tibet because I don't like what the liberal leftist extremists are doing. They want the US to butt into China and Tibet's issues? No way because war may result. I have a feeling that the democrats were the true cause of the Iraq and Afghan conflict because they rule congress and war is based upon permission from congress.....
They can extinguish the flame, but it can also get relit! The no teeth having, non english speaking Tibetians in San Francisco are just wasting space because they look like ragged homeless trying to get a point across that we could care less about.....
I support China because I'm Asian, have the right to speak about Asian issues (unlike the caucasians and hippy liberal scum that need to butt out.....) and understand that if your citizens get out of hand, you have to handle them and pass out discipline to make things right!

Tibet wont separate from China.
The best way for Tibet to to satisfy themselves is being the the Vatican City in China. China's military wont evacuate Tibet.

I think the federal government should give freedom back to the American people too. We could use your help with that.

SF must do better than Paris. People must protest stronger in SF than in Paris and please extinguish this " Olympic" torch for good!! Dont let them light the torch back! Olympism is now a joke thanks to IOC and China!

Not a chance, I am pro-China 1,000% on this one. my motives are a bit selfish, I can't wait to see the US smoke the world in the medal count.
Olympics should be free of politics.
