Wow, that's pretty steep. I live in San Antonio, Texas, and the cost of living is really quite decent here. You could probably get a nice studio apartment for around $450-$600. That's one of the reasons I live here.........it's cheap to live, there's a bar on every corner, and there's tons to do in this city of 1.4 million.....

I make close to the median salary for a San Francisco resident and I barely hold it together. Yes, I manage money badly, but EVERYTHING is expensive. Just buying a candy bar, the taxes will eat you up. You should most definitely look into Oakland (There are REALLY nice and comfortable parts), Walnut Creek, Concord or anywhere in the East Bay, Daly City or South San Francisco. Also look into Park Merced in SF (a living community by SFSU). A three bedroom runs $2700-$3500 but they are nice, VERY spacious and well managed and close to public transit. They ALWAYS have openings and you can negotiate the rent. A decent "studio", runs an average of $1000 - $1400 depending on the area of course so you can only imagine. I lucked out and got a one bedroom for $1300 in a semi-decent neighborhood called the Mission. Bart is EXPENSIVE. Muni has unlimited monthly passes for $75 which is a steal BUT the system is not always dependable. And the bridge tolls seem to be going up every year. Look into the not-so-trendy neighborhoods if you decide to live IN the city...(sunset, excelsior, richmond district) SF is expur decision.

OH! My! You could rent my 4 bedroom 2 bath 2100 square foot house on a quarter acre her in Utah for THAT. Although, I rented out my 2 bed 1 bath 810 square foot house in the Los Angeles area for $1850 a month. Totally does NOT cover the mortgage payment, but I take what I can get.

It varies greatly, between just one town inland and the shore of course. I am in the very Southeastern corner of CT, not too far from you. In Stonington, if you want to be in the Borough, or if you want to be in Mystic, the rent is going to run between 800 and 1000 for a studio. If you don't mnd the blue collar(wonderful neighborhood) of Pawcatuck you're looking at between 500 and 800. Go inland one town and prices are considerably different than Mystic or Stonington Borough.

I live in London though so.. I'm moving out of London soon though but the rent at it's lowest where I'm moving is £500 a month

Wow, I only pay $970/month for a two bedroom townhome!

Studio apartments run between $400-$600 a month depending on the city and how new the development is here in MN.

I don't mean to brag, but I'm renting a 3 bedroom house on a double lot with 2 car garage and extra storage space for $550. This town sucks though. Middle of nowhere with nothing to do. You have to drive 45 minutes to get a decent steak unless you want to cook it yourself.

About $400 in the ghetto. I'd say around $800-$1000 for a nice one.
