Unfair Taxes?
If IRS made a mistake on your taxes, and cost you to owe money,is it fair you have to pay from their mistakes, they only say Iam sorry, but do not remove the debt.

I think I would contact the IRS again. If you paid someone to prepare your taxes for you I would contact them also and let them know what happened. Most companies that prepare your taxes will go to bat for you with the IRS. If the mistake is a large amount, contact a tax lawyer. If it is just a small amount, I would just pay it. I know it isn't right and unfair, but why hassle the IRS if you don't have to, for some reason they are always right. There must be some department at the IRS that could help you, everyone is human and makes mistakes and this time of year they are really swamped with everyone taxes. But there should be someone there that can help you, all American's that file taxes are paying their wages, they should understand that and know how you feel. How would they like it if someone made a mistake on their tax return? Would they fight it? You bet your a** they would! Keep trying and let us know how you make out. GOOD LUCK!

Are you saying that you called the IRS number with a question, and got bad advice, followed it and ended up with something disallowed? That can happen, either because the IRS person on the phone made a mistake or because of a miscommunication between you and them. Since there's no way to prove exactly what was said, they can hardly just take your word for it. And in any case, if it was wrong, it was wrong.
